The sexual tension was always in the movie. You also got the scene where Mathilda tells the hotel clerk that Leon's not her father but her lover. It's just that in its original form it showed us more explicitly. I like it better this way though, only because I prefer my thematics to be implied and subtle rather than overtly in your face.
