Would you take $1 million or a magic penny that doubled in value everyday for 30 days?

I would take the million dollars.

Theoretically the magical penny is worth more, but it looks like a lesson in greed. I would be paranoid about only the original doubling, or someone detecting that the coins are exact replicas (in other words counterfeit) of one another.

I didn't miss anything. If it's value doubles, each day, it's worth $.02 each day. The way you're going is that the additional value is retained which isn't stated. Neither is the original value for that matter. Since neither are stated explicitly, you can go either way on the answer. I went for the semantic pedant answer for laughs rather than 2^30.
