I like Aaliyah's music but she's not a better singer than Beyonce at all
Really.....
So that's why Beyonce needed to put Jay-Z, Sean Paul, Usher & Slim Thug on her first 4 singles? You young dudes shouldn't speak on shyt you don't remember.
I don't think there was a "need" to put Jay Z and Sean Paul on the first two singles. With Jay, it was a smart move coming off of "Bonnie and Clyde '03" to have him on the first single. The relationship between them didn't hurt either. Sean Paul seemed to be more strategic because he was popular at the time. "Me, Myself and I" and "Naughty Boy" had no features though.
Columbia had every right to be hesitant though, because they tried to launch Kelly Rowland first by piggybacking off of the success of "Dilemma". She came with "Can't Nobody", but it didn't take off. With Beyonce, they tried to launch her with the Neptunes produced lead single, "Work It" for that Austin Powers' movie soundtrack didn't really take off either.
Either way, Beyonce was going to be huge regardless. She had the name and the look. She was actually doing solo appearances in the early Destiny's Child days. Once I saw her featured solo on Missy's Da Real World, I figured the solo thing was next. The same year she was featured as the love interest in Case's "Happily Ever After" video. Then came the movies

At the time, Destiny's Child was hella successful but, there's was a question if Beyonce could do it solo & Columbia put every hot artist at the time on her shyt to make sure she did.
It was almost like people let out a sigh of relief once "Crazy In Love" took off....
Beyonce didn't drop out of nowhere with "Crazy In Love". The year Aaliyah died, Beyonce was the lead singer (and the face) of a group that damn near sold 10 million off one album. To think she couldn't have done even half of that solo is nuts.
Aaliyah would be where Ri Ri is right now without all the drama surrounding her. Beyonce is way to talented to not have broke through on here on after Destiny Child.
It would be Aaliyah and Beyonce neck and neck with Aaliyah being the bigger star Imho.
at Aaliyah not being able to sing Can I Come Over >>>>
Aaliyah- Come Over - YouTube
. puts my mind at ease everytime I hear it her voice![]()
RI wouldn't even be here if Aaliyah was alive because music would be different from what it is now. And death plays a lot in the roles of the future. If you go back in time and kill a butterfly you can drastically change the course of the future.
Alicia Key's first singles:
"Fallin"
"A Woman's Worth"
"How Come You Don't Call Me"
Ashanti's first singles:
"Foolish"
"Baby"
"Happy"
Aaliyah's first singles:
"Age Ain't Nothing But a Number"
"Back & Forth"
"At Your Best"
Beyonce's first singles:
"Crazy In Love" ft. Jay-Z
"Baby Boy" ft. Sean Paul
"Naughty Girl
Now explain to me, why Beyonce, a chick who had soooooo much clout & star power then had the most features out of all these girls?![]()
I'll wait![]()
You're reaching and completely forgetting about that B was already established. Everyone in the industry already knew Beyonce so of coarse people are jumping on her album. She had the money and the resources to do that.
Alicia and Aaliyah were pretty much nobodies before their single dropped.
