You're reaching and completely forgetting about that B was already established. Everyone in the industry already knew Beyonce so of coarse people are jumping on her album. She had the money and the resources to do that.

Alicia and Aaliyah were pretty much nobodies before their single dropped.

Alicia wasn't a nobody before dropping a single. In fact, she and Destiny's Child both premiered at the same time. Both of them debuted on the Men In Black soundtrack. At the time Alicia was signed to Columbia through So So Def if I'm not mistaken. Alicia was known in the industry, but didn't break through until signing with J Records and releasing "Fallin".

Aaliyah also wasn't exactly a nobody. Through her uncle Barry Hankerson, she got to sing background for his then wife, Gladys Knight which led to her getting a deal with his Blackground at age 12.

Aaliyah was much better in making songs that actually survive the test of time. Nobody is going to remember Beyonce's catalouge. She'll be remembered more for how fine she was though.

Dancing: Beyonce

Performance: Beyonce

Singing: Beyonce

Looks: I prefer Aaliyah. She had that beautiful angelic face. Beyonce has the better body though.

Overall, I think Aaliyah made MUCH better music than Beyonce...but there was nothin she could do to stop B from blowing up. I'll say it again...Aaliyah made better music, but Beyonce is a force in the game

i prefer aaliyah's music too. but isnt it easy to do so when you working with two heavyweights like r kelly and timbaland. take aaliyah away from the timbo sound and would you still feel the same??

You're saying... that by the time Beyonce's solo shyt had dropped, she was not the lead singer and the face of the biggest female R&B group of the previous five years, a group that by then many people had already felt she was carrying?

Obviously, me & you lived in two different worlds.

In your world, Beyonce was already a huge solo superstar in 2002 and everybody knew she would sell 10 million albums on her debut.

In my world, Beyonce was the lead singer of a successful group that everybody knew she wanted to leave but, nobody was sure she could do it alone.

I was simply drawing comparisons. You're an exec at Columbia in 2002 & its a delicate situation. You have this attractive, charismatic singer with loads of talent. If her album soars, she's a star & everybody gets promoted. If her album flops, she's the biggest dumbass in the music industry for breaking up her successful group. So what do you do? You put the hottest rapper at the time on her first single & the hottest reggae artist at the time on her second.

Beyoncé Goes Solo, with a Lot of Help - Beyonce Knowles : People.com

Then you give her a role on the Austin Powers flick. Then you make her the face of Pepsi. Meanwhile the other girl singers had none of that on their debuts. You seem to think that's purely coincidental :merchant: it's comical to me that you think she wasn't pushed.

This is arguably the most incorrect thing I've ever read online.

oh really? name a song by beyonce that people will still listen to 10 years from now?... I'll wait:popcorn:

:heh:, do i look like the oracle or sumn? haha, she's got scores of hits, pick one. beyonce is the greatest all-around female entertainer since tina turner, pretty easily too. she can really sing and she can REALLY perform, aaliyah couldn't do either that great (still love her tho)

So someone that's sold 75M records doesn't have any music that people will play 10 years from now?

I hear more Beyonce songs from 9-10 years ago than I do Aaliyah songs.

Both really talented in their own sense but IMO Aaliyah was more likable and I can listen to her music all day. Beyonce just pumps out feminist propaganda and appeals to all those, 'we hate men' bytches. :rudy:

I never said she wasn't a great singer, I'm saying she has no memorable songs. shyt I hear them all the time on the radio and still can't remember hardly any of their titles. Single Ladies? Bootylicious?(the video was :ahh: though) :heh:
