It means you were a top five player in your sport for some time.
You most likely made stupid money over the course of that time and was a definite superstar.
@ me caring what some cac on a radio show or some nerd on a message board says about me not winning championships while i'm driving by in my lamborghini aventador while a bad bytch is giving me dome.
I want to be the best at what I do. Team sports championships are for the TEAM. It's not Barkley's fault he never won a championship. I would rather be Barkley than Robert Horry any day of the week.

Then you need to change the title to "would u rather win 1 title or 5 mvps if u were a STAR player" Regardles, the answer is still 5 MVPs. If you win 5 MVPs, you are undoubtedly a LEGEND in your sport, f*ck the championship. It's hard to find a decent comparison, but best one was I think is easily Lebron before joining the Heat. Lebron was the face of the league and a legend before going to Miami. I would much rather be Lebron without the rings than Wade with 1 ring.

It's a poorly conceived/presented premise. The thing that people don't consider when they make threads like these is that if you have won 5 MVP's you must be a star and an all-time great legend in your sport...it goes without sayin, it is a guarantee. To win a title you can be any random nikka that happened to be on a champonship team. There is no guarantee that you are a star or an all-time great. The fact that you have to preface it and say "won a ring as a star" should demonstrate how silly the comparison is. You would never have to say "won 5 MVPs as a star."

I went with the title under what I thought was the obvious assumption that we were talking about the same caliber player who just happens to be in different situations...i.e. I'm the MAN on that championship squad and while I may never win an MVP award, I'm gonna be in the running every year of my prime career ( thus max contracts, so no money difference)

IMO Steve Nash is an no defense playin' overrated bum anyway, but that's a topic for another day. Pierce is a good example.
Paul Pierce or Lebron before the Heat. I would still be Lebron. He has been recognized as the best in his position, and in the L, and is a household legend. Paul Pierce, who is an all-world talent IMHO, is only a legend among hoops fans/Boston area. Lebron has more endorsement money, and more props for his efforts. Sure, if I was Pierce, I would be like
"b*tch nikka, you ain't got a ring", same like Jordan does to Charles all day, but that's all that they can say. Lebron all day. Money, hoes, and clothes, it's all a nikka knows. As long as you put in work, nobody can take your accolades from you.

Only nikkas with 5 MVPs in the history of the NBA are Mike and Kareem. I don't think people are wrapping their minds about how substantial that number is. You got more stars with 5 rings than you do stars with 5 MVPs.
How are you the same caliber player and one guy wins 5 MVPs and the other guys wins none? That number of MVPs is reserved for the greatest of the great (Mike, Kareem). Meanwhile Dirk and Pierce have championships as "the man"
you taking their careers over Mike/Kareem's?Generally speaking if you are "the man" on a championship team and in the running for MVP every year chances are you are gonna have an MVP award or two to show for it. It's actually kinda hard to seperate the two.
