If everyone was forced to join a branch of the military at 18 and demographics were carefully administered to create true diversity in the ranks, would it serve as a crushing blow to racism over the course of 1-2 centuries? Or do you think the cism that exists is so deep that no matter what efforts the gov takes to destroy the cism and create unity among people in America, people will stay bigoted and disgusting?

Also, would these initiatives help foster better community activism, outreach, and cure a lot of problems that plague inner cities/trailer parks, etc?

No all you are doing is training every citizen how to kill each one another.

Why is Israels murder rate so low?

They have an enemy to fight and have a smaller population. Imagine every a$$hole you come across is trained in basic fighting techniques and fire arms. This country would be in chaos.

Well that's why we should bring back conscription. Many of today's men are whimpy and effeminate. This will toughen them up and reverse the effects of hyper feminism (simps would be extinct).

I think our current recruitment process is weak since the government has to practically bribe people to join (i.e.: paying off student loans, retirement benefits, etc.). A ton of people are in the army for the money/benefits and not because they believe in the country they're fighting for. This creates a weak-willed military (i.e.: people who would easily give away intel/technology at the right price, people defecting to enemy countries, etc.)

The only problem with all of this of course is that our government is using the military to protect corporate interests (i.e.: international bankers, oil companies, etc.) and Israel.

I kinda like the idea of conscription. Not without it's flaws, of course, but I like it.

Quite possibly one of the most dumb smart post I've seen. Of course most folks don't join out of patriotism. Muthafukkas who did after 9/11 were the first to speak out on the Iraq war first chance they got. They saw a nation that didnt believe in what they're fighting for cause it was mostly bullshyt and capitalistic driven. If you knew what a uniformed service member got paid then you wouldn't even consider the lil chump change they get you to sign a bribe

I wouldn't mind if everyone would be required to do a few years in the military after high school. It'd help people learn a lot of fundamentals that school just can't teach. I tried joining but I did some stupid shyt in the past and they wouldn't let me.

Only problem is that the people that get to say what wars we fight and all that just couldn't be trusted with that much power.

hell yea! .. for the better. The gov doing something blatant and extreme would be the best catalyst for revolution. It would also be the best way for true leaders to want to put themselves out there-- no one wants to put themselves out there with lost blind inactive people supporting them.

No. Racism and discrimination still exists in units that fight, sleep and die with each other and it is what it is. Conscription isn't going to cure an inherent societal problem.

If anything all this does is foster more prejudice against Muslims or whatever the enemy du jour is.

Also your last point about low income areas, that is exactly what society needs to always have a class willing to go to war. If there is an underclass that is ignorant, uneducated, and with little or no options to better themselves, they have a few options. The military is typically one of the primary options they have.

This doesn't cure these communities whatsoever.
