He was a big star in TNA during their best times. Currently in ROH
His matches with AJ & Joe in the X Division are classics that put them & the company on the map

Vince made the angle trash. Using that to introduce a new character is exactly the type of thing that gets someone over. People talking about he's a nobody, that's the point. There was a time you introduced characters with pomp and circumstance to make you care about them. Not just "Hey, look at this guy" or relying on you knowing about them from their previous work elsewhere.
Or you're saying you all would have been upset when DiBiase's mystery partner was The Undertaker because Mark Calloway was a nobody
Daniels is a good promo and a good worker. He would have had an excellent career. He would have thrown himself fully into gimmick and character. At the very least he'd have gone on to be a mouthpiece and manager for a long, long time
A debut like that is one of the things Russo is 100% right about when he complains about the product today. The WWE gives you ZERO reason to care about new people as they just assume you've watched them in NXT or the indies.
Someone's music hits, they just shout their name and say they did this that and the other in some place and that's it
Dibiase was mid card and feuding with Dusty by then. The higher power was the main event storyline. You cant have somebody under a hood or under a mask for weeks and reveal to be a nobody.

In short, no. It would have had to be a well-known legit person from WCW in 1999, not a guy who hadn't really even scratched the surface in the indies
Which is why I compared him to Cyrus / the jackal. He would've been that level guy. But I just think better in general.

Somewhat, during the WWF's failed version of the CW division. He was mostly a jobber and Jakked/Metal/Shotgun mainstay
If they booked it right it probably wouldve gotten over. Yea hes 5'8 and Undertaker and all them serving him might look goofy with that in mind, but if he had the right costume and entrance he could probably get over as a dark priest controlling the ministry.
If it were booked kind of like the Ravens Flock it would have worked. Its a shame he never really got a break. I remember him signing with WCW before they went under. He was the same size as Eddie and Chris who eventually became top guys.
