She might well be, though it's telling she doesn't have any hits of her own...

But if you're holding up Temperature's Rising as a good R&B hook on a hip hop song...

I don't know what to tell you.

This reminds me of Mary J Blige on 'Streets raised me'.

TOP 10 Mobb Deep Record and the hook is alright but Mary J Blige was on coke that day! Her vocals were awful. That's why many think Faith Evans is the better singer even though Faith on the coke too. SMH :bryan:

Give Up the Goods?!?! Brehhhhh

I am going to listen right now all I know it was the black and white joint with big noyd on it, and I wasnt feeling it as much as others.

It would be more difficult to pick a favorite song off there, that'll be difficult lol.

EDIT :

Nah I am bugging this is another knock. P verse is ringing in my ears something serious! :wow:

Yep. Mary was off the rails surely.

According to Prodigy's book. She wanted to smash.

Drink away the pain or cradle to the grave

Both are dope songs tho there’s no bad songs on here. Those just happen to be the worst ones on here for me. Whole album is classic and so is these two joints. Either way this album is one of the true greats.

I thought more people would mention Cradle to the Grave. It's always been one of my favorites.

Breh! Crystal Johnson is a legit artist. It's not like it's just some chick from the good hopping on a hook

My explanation re: choosing Drink Away the Pain is that it just didn't fit the vibe as well. It's a better song than Party Over in a standalone context but Party Over fits the album better.

Drink away feels jarring coming after Cradle to the Grave
It fit the vibe just fine to me. The Infamous has a very jazzy vibe and it was perfectly in line with the other Q-Tip joints in particular, as well as Trife Life.

Q-Tip explained it on Complex and the Red Bull Music Academy how the big key to The Infamous' sound is that it was dark, not  hard, which js why there was room for beats like Give Uo The Goods, Temperature's Rising, and Drink Away the Pain. Its not a hard song necessarily but DATP has that same kinda late night, quiet storm vibe as a lot of other songs on that album; those saxes on QU-Hectic and Cradle to the Grave are similar too

The clean version of Give Up the Goods wasn't mixed properly, Give the album version another spin

Oh it hits for sure! That time they cooked everything.

I don't know why I said 'Give up the Goodz' just never remembering the song compared to the others but I was bugging lol.

That's not Mary J Blige on the hook. It's Chinky who is a fellow Queens-Bridge native.

I'm pretty sure it's Chinky. She's been on multiple Mobb Deep related projects as well worked with DMX, Nore, Alchemist etc. I know her voice without even looking at the credits.

:ohhh:

She is featured twice.

"Streets Raised Me" (featuring Big Noyd & Chinky)

I didn't mean no disrespect to her vocals. She sounds just like Mary J Blige but MJB without the extras she has.

My apologies,.
