No it would be shallow and small minded to just cut a check for poor people but the money these rich guys generate can be used to improve the infrastructure of these poor places especially when it comes to increasing the availability of fresh water to water locked areas, through desalination and irrigation. Either that or we can accept poverty as an afterproduct of capitalism, and root for the corporations to keep making money so that we can live vicariously through them, while they laugh and count money.

that's a lie, even if you build that infrastructure you would still have to pay for the upkeep, and if the country doesnt have the education and capital the infrastructure will decay and you will be back to square one

the key to ending poverty is doubling down on capitalism and freedom, so poor countries and poor regions create their own wealth

no one said it was as simple as just throwing money at it. the point is with that money you could set up some sort of sustainable infrastructure

it sucks when we can't have a conversation that gets further than people just trying to debate the title of an article out of context

Nah breh, unchecked capitalism created a good chunk of the world's poor.

We need to implement the socialism/capitalism hybrid system and close the income inequality gaps across the world, including here at home.

lol @ all the apologetics for these despots

fukk them and fukk you

I'm not apologizing for them breh.

But it took $50 Billion dollars worth of aid to get one of the most advanced regions on the planet back to normal living conditions (Hurricane Sandy)

US House Passes $50.5 Billion in Sandy Aid, Republicans Trim Items

The infrastructure there was already in place, most people there have jobs, etc..

I'm all for eliminating income inequality, taxing the wealthy appropriately and raising the standard of living in the world, but this article is just absolute lazy garbage.

i never said unchecked capitalism, what i am saying is that the key to ending poverty is increasing capitalism and trade, an increase in capitalism and trade will also increase the amount of money the government has that it can invest in infrastructure and social programs

But there's only one type of capitalism: the unchecked type.
