I peeped this 15 years ago, I always felt that certain grocery stores are priced so high because they know they're getting EBT customers so it didn't matter what they charged.
Move from the hell hole that is New York City
Idiots, I tell you.A lot of people in this thread obviously didn’t read the article before they bothered responding with their comments.
A French revolution would never happen here. You would have half the country chiming along with Queen Antoinette, telling the other half of the population to eat cake .
And the half of folks without cake, would be lying to themselves thinking they can one day get a crumb of cake if they grind hard enough
That's not how forums work. Don't tell me what to worry about. shyt comes off passive aggressive and bytch made. Just have a discussion like a normal poster.people who are living in their cars, especially when the cost of rent and cost of living isn't coming down, will often end up in worse circumstances, not better ones. this leads to turning to drugs and other forms of substance abuse to cope with their dire situation, which will eventually lead to a fate even worse than living in their car and have a negative impact on society as a whole.
there are ways to solve the housing issues in this country without just granting it to homeless people. they could invest that money to build respectable and affordable public housing that isn't just the projects, the ROI is not worsening the already horrible homeless crisis we have in the supposed greatest country in the world.
when you're not spending that money properly at home, it looks terrible when you spend it abroad. i don't care if it's a loan instead of a grant or if it's tied aid. this country has its priorities backwards as hell.
also i believe you're canadian, so don't worry about america's problems.
Those things have broken water heaters, dangerous electrical lines, untreated septic lines, AND can't pass emissions at the price point of most car-dwellers. You effectively have the costs of both home ownership and diesel truck ownership in an RV. Getting a cheap rv runs you the risk of living in a septic-toxic, firehazard, on four wheels. It’s a house same concept but it’s cheaper to live in especially if you live near your job.. no travel time required
First off, fukk you & the article. OP posted a NY Times article that requires a subscription so fukk him tooIdiots, I tell you.
No, fukk you. If you on the internet in 2023 the year of our Lord and don't know how to get around a paywall, you are, in fact, an idiot.First off, fukk you & the article. OP posted a NY Times article that requires a subscription so fukk him too
I wasn’t pressed to read that but given it’s The NY Times & NY rent is astronomical, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that if you live in a city with outrageous rent just fukking leaveNo, fukk you. Every reply confirms and re-affirms my original opinion.
1. The NYT is a national paper, the article is centered a lady in WA state, this is nationwide problem.
2. Poor ppl in NYC don't have cars.
Are they homeless? Cuz that's the topic here, if you'll recall.you think all the gypsies in BK/Queens got money?

Not really an option for most Americans because of the rental conundrum. You can't get anyone to rent you a primary dwelling with that bankruptcy. You need the rented dwelling while saving for a house .
Vast majority of Americans don't have family willing to let them live with them for the half a decade it takes to save a deposit for a starter home or condo in most major metros. And that's ignoring the difficulty you will have finding a home lender with that earlier bankruptcy
Traditionally nomadic is in no way equivalent to homelessness as we understand it. Please stop.they live in vans/RVs/cars.......I'd say so
