So y'all made me start investigating because we got a clique of nikkas called the broskis where I grew up.

Basically broski is Russian/Polish slang for friend/brother. Idk about the Russians but Chicago always had hella polish people. Many of those polish people lived in the same south side neighborhoods we took over in the 50's and 60's

So I guess we took it from them when we were first moving in, and it stuck.

thats actually how a lot of Chicago neighborhoods started.
(at one point Chicago had the most Polish people anywhere in the world outside of Poland)

They were mainly white immigrants in the 40's/50's...then black folks moved in.
In certain neighborhoods on the west side Puerto Ricans moved in after black folks...
...its happening again now in areas where Mexicans are buying a lot of buildings and houses where the neighborhoods used to be mainly black.

Chinese (and Mexicans) have been buying up housing in some of those old Italian neighborhoods.
