I just want you guys to realize this is why catcalling is SCARY for women. I know a lot of guys on here were saying we should be flattered, it's not that serious, get over ourselves, in that catcalling/street harassment thread but almost every girl I know has a story of being physically harmed by a man for rejecting his advances, whether letting him down easy (because men are not adults..they're children we have to coddle, right?) or just plain ignoring him. I, along with my roommates keep headphones in our ear as an excuse not to engage these males.
A lot of black women have mastered the art of the bytch face, not because we are mean but because if you look happy guys will try to talk to you relentlessly, most of which only wanting quick disposable sex, when we look mad nikkas just tell us to 'smile' and go on about our day.
You guys can dismiss this all you want but some day, your female relative will come home with a story about being pushed down and raped because she told ol boy outside Jack in the Box she had a man. As men it doesn't register to you guys because you are all so much bigger and stronger than women but at any time, WE could be raped and killed. We don't want to engage just any males, especially off the street. Now he might look cute, drive a nice car, but the average woman ain't caring what dude got on..we just want to get to our destination SAFE.
and catch a body over bullshyt, but why take that chance if you can avoid it?
