Never would thought we could get Ivey and Duran and still have second ed pick

Desperately needed more athleticism.

Wonder about the Ayton situation though with Duran on roster now. Bridges might be new priority in FA
bridges makes more sense we already got stew. cade ivey bey bridges duren
stew kill bagley diallo frank jackson etc off the bench solid

Way more into football than basketball, quite a reversal from when I was younger. But I'm def gonna be watching this team. Feels great having actual confidence about the Lions, specifically the front office/GM. And clearly the same can be said about the Pistons.

Also what an indictment this is on the decade plus of refusing to tank and over spending in FA. Couple years and the team got two guys who could be some of the best players in the league soon. While also hitting on lower draft picks who provide a nice core for the team. And having the cap space to go out and get a star if that's what Weaver believes is the next step.

Treadmill late lottery/fringe playoff team is never the answer. That's a quick way to fan apathy.

Pistons came out like a fat rat in this draft
Kings passing on Ivey was big mistake smh
But we'll see
Detroit is sured up at every position. This group just needs time to develop and create a winning culture and they'll be a problem

I agree with this but I also think we need to make a move at HC after this season if we don’t show improvement. I don’t think anybody was winning with his rosters to be fair to casey but I can’t see him changing the culture and leading us on deep playoff runs either.

I also can’t think of who that guy would be that’s available

Plus they tanked brilliantly, as did the Lions last season. Tanking is not about players trying to lose. It's about filling your roster with young guys, getting them experience and building your culture. VS a half assed "win now" edict where you're chasing bad free agent vets to help you win enough games to miss the playoffs AND the draft lottery. Saw that shyt with the Lions under Quinn/Patricia: constantly over paying vets to come in, not spending any time ensuring your young guys get playing time. It's unsustainable.

Naw we gotta keep Casey. It's bigger than deep playoff runs at this point.

Casey is a grown man teaching this young kids not just about basketball but becoming responsible hard working men.

They are buying into what he teaches them and that goes a long way.

Now at some point I would like to see him move to a front office position and we can get a young coach to take over.

But now Casey is the perfect man for this job

He already changed the culture. Even though they been bad them boys play hard and commit on the defensive side of the ball. And they don’t do all that crying to the refs.

So we’re giving Campbell the same leeway for doing the same things?

Sure, why not. Both teams seem to be going through similar type front office philosophy and culture changes. Both starting to accumulate talent AND players that want to be in Detroit. If the wins follow them more players around the league will take notice and start to look to come to Detroit too. Just gotta make sure the player development and oncourt execution is just as spot on as the original talent assessment.

Ivey didn’t want to be there and he made that very clear. People are complaining that they didn’t take Ivey, but would have clowned them if they had taken him anyways, which is exactly what they're doing about the Magic in taking Paolo :mjlol:
