Although we do need to address the recent negative stigma many in our community have attached to being educated. How we went from a people who would literally risk their lives to learn to read, to a group that now tries to low-key diss anybody who aspires to gain more knowledge in a given field is beyond me.

No one ever really threw shade and black women getting an education, it was primarily directed towards boys, by both men and women. No one called girls "Steve Urkel" as a pejorative. No one equated intelligence with not having sex to women, that was all reserved for the boys. This is been probably the root cause of a lot of strife in my generation, that basically said "it's cool to be dumb as fukk".
