OK.

Thread title has been changed to include "Popular" like I had originally intended.

People are viewing the question as "Will you ever outgrow 'HIP-HOP' (as a culture)" and that's not what I meant.

Sorry for the confusion brehs.

We all know Hip-Hop is the GOAT culture anyway and it's here to stay. :obama:

The answer is still no
Popular rap usually have the best hooks and are very catchy.

I dont understand people who cant appreciate songs like "cashin out":mindblown:

I feel the music has not grow with me, the more I listens to the new songs that have been coming out lately the more I become out of touch. Mainstream rap music lost its touch in connecting with people. Repetitive subject matters like money, dope and B%tches don't irritate me but sometime I want to listen to something with a mature perspective of life or something that is creative with a meaning.

:wtf: I swear yall nikkas be making up shyt.

The kingpins of the 90s were connecting with people?

I outgrew mainstream shyt when I went to college..Before then a nikka was just listening to w/e came on the radio and really didn't fukk with the internet. But when I discovered forums and started to listen to older albums like Illmatic,OB4CL,Operation Doomsday and Uptown saturday night a nikka looked at his Itunes playlist full of random gangsta grillz and Gorilla Zoe mixtapes like :scusthov:..

I can still appreciate shyt like Waka and Travis Porter if i'm in a club, but i'm not listening to that shyt in my Ipod.

The fact that we "outgrow" it is the problem. It should be evolving and it's not.

Remember as vicious and explicit as it was in the 90's people still had clever wordplay and said something to make you laugh or think.

That's far and away now.

The politics screwed everything up to where things have devolved and become "yeah but the beat snappin so I fukkk wit it"

FOH......................

I get older and plot on my future. I see that alot of the lies are tired, the primadonna halfway gay swaggy is runnin things now so I can't relate or enjoy it. Not my thing to sit here and act all feminine singing along to a corny dude like Drake singing "It's my biiiirthhhdaaaay and I'll........"

So yeah

The bolded is a crock of sh1t and a disservice to all the dope rappers
still doing it, underground, mainstream, gangsta, horrorcore, trap, backpack whatever label people want to put on them.

With that said I don't see myself outgrowing it, I enjoy it a great deal.

Nope...I refuse to become one of these corny, bitter jaded muh'fukkas always crying because whatever specific sound they grew up with is no longer in the forefront of popular hip hop...whenever that day comes, and without question it's gonna come...it's inevitable, I'll gracefully bow out and just enjoy the shyt I like...ain't like i don't have full and complete access to all the older shyt I enjoy or the new shyt that may become more of niche lane....the idea of like near 40 year old men throwing bytch fits over the music aimed at and enjoyed by teenagers is so cliche to me it's kinda pathetic...i can't be that guy...nothing to be saddened about, that's just life...my old heads ain't saddened Johnnie Taylor and shyt ain't running the radio
