The majority of people I see on this sight that say they are losing interest in hiphop are the ones that say stuff like this...

"nikkas only care about money now"

"No one is real in the game anymore"

Some people took this shyt to serious when they were coming up and when they see this game is just a means to make money for artist they lose the feeling they had because they thought rappers just wanted to sit on the corner broke and rap dope bars.

I will outgrow bytches, drugs and stunting aspect of rap music (I want to). Too much of that aint good for your mind & I know I over-indulge in that shyt. But with rap on the whole, I don't think I can outgrow it unless there is an exodus of the rappers with subject matter.

I'm starting to take more of an interest in other parts of hip-hop like instrumental producers like flying lotus, j rawls and dudes like that. Probably the only part of hiphop that is actually getting better as time goes along

What do you mean "outgrow". You make it sound like Hip-Hop is for kids, which isn't necessarily the case. Just like any other genre of music there are different lanes and approaches when it comes to rap (From gangsta to jazzy, to trap and so on) and a plethora of artists that rap about different kinds of subject matter...not to mention a crap load of classic albums.

I think what you mean is weather or not you will outgrow "popular" or "mainstream" rap music.... you know the whole formula of rappin' about money, hoes, cars and clothes over trap beats or pop-ish beats. In that case then I guess I have.

I find myself looking for artists (old and new) that a) rap about subject matter that is more substancial, and b) actually display skills on the mic, (instead of having simplistic rhymes and a catchy hook) instead of just bumpin' whatever is hot on the radio. Which has basically led to me bumping more underground-ish artists, or listening to old school rap music.

But if we're speaking in terms of Hip Hop as a musical artform? Then nah, I'll be bumpin' rap music well into my forties. I listen to other kinds of music as well though, but I can still see rap dominating my playlists for sure. If the mainstream fails, then I can always go back to the good ole 90s.

I already don't fukk with most "hot" rap songs. I don't feel any worse, I still have tons of classics to fall back on, great albums I missed and am now discovering, and new music on the indie scene that fits with my tastes.

My mind is well beyond the majority of present-day mainstream hip hop. Most of it sounds generic, weak, and repetitive.

I still fukk with a few new-school players (Lupe, KL, J-Cole).

But for the most part I listen to late 80's-early 2k hip hop music.
