The Empire State
Let's face it brehs, there comes a time when every boy must put away his toys and enter into the field of men.
Now, don't get me wrong, there will always be the instances when the newest grooves have you nodding your head in a positive response or busting out a quick Harlem Shake or Cookin' Dance, but the reality is soon you will be apart of the group not understanding just what the hell all the fuss is about anymore when a newer, younger rapper drops or maybe your ears just simply tune out and you're on to greener pastures.
The way I see it "Hip" means what's in style, current and hot; "Hop" literally means to progress. So with that said, Rap music is always going to be sung by the youngest voices of the generation who set the genre's influences and trends resulting in its material bulk.
Look at today's landscape. You have Jay-Z who is at 42 years of age with other rappers like Joey Badass who is 17. That age dynamic is fascinating because the difference in years between them is longer than most artists careers.
At the end of the day you can always hold dear the countless gems that you have amassed over all your years of listening. That goes without saying.
So with that said, will you be a sad listener that one fateful day when this music genre just doesn't appeal to you anymore?
TL;DR Are you gonna be sad if/when you outgrow listening to rap music?
