Let's face it brehs, there comes a time when every boy must put away his toys and enter into the field of men.

Now, don't get me wrong, there will always be the instances when the newest grooves have you nodding your head in a positive response or busting out a quick Harlem Shake or Cookin' Dance, but the reality is soon you will be apart of the group not understanding just what the hell all the fuss is about anymore when a newer, younger rapper drops or maybe your ears just simply tune out and you're on to greener pastures. :rip:

The way I see it "Hip" means what's in style, current and hot; "Hop" literally means to progress. So with that said, Rap music is always going to be sung by the youngest voices of the generation who set the genre's influences and trends resulting in its material bulk.

Look at today's landscape. You have Jay-Z who is at 42 years of age with other rappers like Joey Badass who is 17. That age dynamic is fascinating because the difference in years between them is longer than most artists careers. :gladbron:

At the end of the day you can always hold dear the countless gems that you have amassed over all your years of listening. That goes without saying. :myman:

So with that said, will you be a sad listener that one fateful day when this music genre just doesn't appeal to you anymore? :sadbron:

TL;DR Are you gonna be sad if/when you outgrow listening to rap music?

My Pops Forever RIP
A lot of posters here have outgrown it. They're either in denial of it or are upset by the fact that something that they felt was theirs forever is no longer theirs anymore. It shows every time there's something popular that comes out that either they don't understand or they can't get with.

I'm already kinda there... I still listen to and like some new music, but I'm nowhere near the avid listener I was 15 years ago, or even 10. I got an older brother and younger brother who know about more new shyt than I do, and I used to be the one who knew all the new shyt and put them up on stuff. And also, my iPod is PACKED with old music. PACKED.

I'll never be too old to enjoy rap, that's the music of our generation. Now, whether it's NEW rap I'm enjoying when I get old is another story.

Nope. I'm only 24 and I'm starting to outgrow it. The more you mature you just acquire different taste in life. Everything from your style of dress to music to people you hang around change. Don't get me wrong I will still bump some hood shyt but rap music will not dominate my iTunes. Life has more sounds outside of 808's.

I wont outgrow it because I dont take look at music as critical as yall.

There is not one rap artist that I hate.

I can find pleasure in just about anything. I can bump Waka and then bump LIG next.

I see each artist for what they are.

I'll never "outgrow" hiphop, If that day comes it's the day I "outgrow" music.

Of course I will stop following it and shyt like that, but my classic records will always be classic.
I mean Nas was 15 years younger than 2 Chainz when he made Illmatic and Illmatic is probably something I will listen to in my 40s, but I'm already starting to feel like I'm amongst the oldest 2 chainz stans in the world right now and I'm still in college .

It all has to do with the type of music and under which era you grew up on.
I don't think people in their 50s 60s are listening to the most "vulgar" rock music from the 70s, but they still love the shyt they grew up on that's classic and kinda smart like Bob Dylan or whoever the fukk.
