Why the hell would anyone in their right mind want to escape death? ....When its my time to go i will embrace the grim reaper with open arms...and move on to the next dimension in the proper progression that the architect intended

Since this is the-coli and most certainly the wrong place for a deep philosophical discussion. I must ask you -- why should death be part of life? If we can use the knowledge we've amassed to create technology that would help us live indefinitely then I believe we should aspire to that.

I don't subscribe to the whole "when my time is up" attitude. I want to life forever. Nothing wrong with that.

computers will never be more intelligent than the human brain. it's physically impossible.

If you're talking about silicon-based computers then you're absolutely right. The fastest processor in the world is no match for the human brain. However, a computer based on biochemistry and molecular biology would rival the human mind:

Unless your brain is going with you you r dead. Putting you consciousness into a microchip does not mean u wake up as you know yourself now. It means a computer imitates you until its destroyed. You wont be a god ull be dead. U cant make a universe u cant create planets. Ull just be a brain i a metal suit. Give up on becoming god.

Well if stem cell research and nanotechnology come a long way then they'll be able to harvest your DNA/stem cells and grown a human body. And, assuming your brain is still intact, can transplant your brain into the new, bioengineered body. This is all theoretical of course.

They're already able to grow a kidney that can hold urine:

So now you're bringing up the issue of affordability. Which is not what I was talking about but okay.

Lets say this tech is available right now and it costs 1 million dollars to purchase a new body.

Would you be willing to enslave 2 generations of your lineage to finance your body because you know damn well this is only going to be available to the 1 percent.

Anyone in here watch the movie "Ghost In The Shell"? Pretty much the main character becomes a God according this theory when her spirit merges with the web/computer world.

Same thing with Akira. Tetsuo was the reason for the 'Big Bang'.

And you absolutely entitled to your opinion breh...however me myself...i feel that the flesh is our lowest point of existence. ..i believe that we exist on multiple planes of consciousness and dimensions...and this happens to be the elementary school level for our spirit. ..where we learn of what we are we struggle we laugh we cry we hurt and we gaze into the stars and ask why...then we return to the realm of ancestors which we came from where we knew all the answers in the first place...

I believe rising to godhood here on earth can only be achieved by activating the Christ Consciousness within
Christ Consciousness (Christusbewustzijn)

Some will

Personally i dont want to live forever...but id like to live longer than 80...i need to be healthy and viril however. 500 years would be nice...after that most experiences would get redundant.

I personally don't want to live past 80 years old. If you haven't done everything in that time-frame you've taken the L. I don't want to die young, but I see no reason to live forever and have others living forever so that we can crowd up this planet.

Part of living is knowing that you're gonna die. for some people time = a motivating factor- so without a sense of time you can either get complacent or unmotivated. NTM, every time you add a new fake organ you are becoming less of what makes you, you.

I don't think fusing our minds with AI and computers should be part of our evolution. We've had a natural evolution so advanced that we've had the ability to even come to this cross road. We can chose the natural development and innovation that got us this far.... or chose some stagnant superAI version to fuse our minds with, which could potentially destroy the human experience.

Oh yeah... and wanting to live forever is a mental disorder.

:snooze: religious people also try to escape death by making up myths about the afterlife

People who don't understand religion shouldn't feel comfortable speaking out against it or dissing it.

Religious people don't escape death. There are a billion theories on continued consciousness, but people don't want to die or escape death. Religious people want to live the best and most righteous life they can while on Earth so that if their consciousness moves on they will end up in a better place... or if the consciousness dies with the physical body, they have lost nothing in the process.

People now and days are out of touch with what life is really about. Everything on this planet is connected. Everything lives and dies and supports the next generation of life. They just playing GOD but they wont ever reach that realm of being.
