I think the Phases 4 - 6 can live up to the 1st set. They have enough there to make it happen.

As far as story arcs, it seems the Skrull invasion is the most likely to happen given what's occurred so far.

If you introduce Doom, then you'd have to bring in the F4. Not doing so would be like having the X-Men and leaving out Magneto.

I don't think they will try to do something like this again. There will be threats, but not like Thanos and not like the infinity stones.

I wouldn't even try to be honest.

Galactus (who can be introduced as a character who avoided the known universe cause the stones scared him) and Doom whose well Doom. Could be used. Also Kang the Conqueror and Immortus. Also Avengers vs. Xmen would print money

X-men are tough, so many of their villains come from the past. How do they explain no one knowing Apocalypse or Mr. Sinister, or Magneto?

Now that I think about it, even though we got Professor Hulk, we could still get World Breaker Hulk. Natasha died. Bruce is still pissed about it. In the same way, that 5 year period Bruce found serenity, Bruce could also become enraged because of it 5 years later. Slow simmer to a overflowing scorch.

Will it live up to it? It'll probably be better and obviously more inclusive.

Objectively, it took 10 years and 20 movies to setup Infinity War and End Game. That's a lot of time spent putting granular pieces into place and readjusting as they go. Learning from mistakes.

Also, sure everyone loves the big 3 now... but let's not forget that RDJ's Tony Stark was the only one the general public rocked with out the gate. Thor 1 was one of the worst reviewed movies and nobody even bothered watching First Avenger, it made the least amount of money of any MCU film. Back then Cap was corny and Thor was a lame.

However, look at the amount of work (and rework) they put in to change the perception of both Cap and Thor. Hell, it took them 3 movies and a youtube skit about Thor getting a roommate before they let Hemsworth be who he is and not who he's supposed to be.

Black Panther, Captain Marvel, even Dr. Strange are already in better shape out the gate than the original big 3 were back in 2008. And we've only seen the early build of those characters, not the final form like we've had with Tony, Steve, and Thor, after 9 solo movies and 2 avenger films to flesh them out and iron out the kinks.

Very good point.

So my question is, who is the NEW Big 3? That the MCU could realistically build an entire new interconnected continuity on?

Black Panther is a definite. And because Captain Marvel apparently made a bunch of money(didn’t see the movie) i’m guessing Carol Danvers would be number two. I really enjoyed the Dr Strange movie, but is he popular enough to be the third pillar? Would they keep Hemsworth and Thor around for 5-6 movies to keep an anchor to the old guard? Ant-Man doesn’t have the “epic” factor to his characterization of movies to be seriously considered. Do they fast track Fantastic Four and make Reed Richards the defacto third?

The key to a great story is a great villain.

They gotta work in Galactus, Dr Doom, somehow at some point. And its got to be done right. Can't do that without Fantastic 4..

I find it odd that they just casually declare mz marvel as the face of mcu for the next decade.. You would think theyd choose a more well known character. Or atleast someone who has a chance to be more connected with the other characters. Just seems kinda... forced. We'll see tho.

The brilliance of the MCU was that they took B-tier and in some cases C-tier characters and made them A-tier characters through the movies. Why would they change that now? :gucci:

I don't think they will have an event this big again but I do think we will see something comparable from a quality and impact stand point. It just won't take as long to build towards now that the foundation has been laid.

I think the next Avengers event will be Avengers vs Xmen in 4-5 years then that leads to secret wars a couple years after.

I got a feeling they will stick to their word and not bring X-Men in for a while but they will foreshadow it due to the events of Endgame and build towards it.

It'll be Black Panther, Cap Marvel, and Dr. Strange/Spiderman. The OGs will be back in a few years with a recast and dimension fukkery most likely :yeshrug:

For me personally, I would have waited to see Captain Marvel until it hit video or streaming. The trailers did not interest me at all. Even though it turned out to be a decent movie, I wonder how it will fare when it comes out by itself and not an Avengers movie coming out a month after. That's the only reason why i saw it in theaters. Even though Black Panther used the same cheat code, it didn't need it because the trailers were good and he had goodwill from the Civil War movie already.
