The Suns winning would cap an unprecedented rise, and I just can't see it. No one goes from complete garbage for 11 years to instant champions...
To boot, most teams gave to climb the ladder to become champions, and the Bucks have done that. They've been in the postseason 5 straight years, so they've endured the attrition of a conference finals loss, early round losses, being upset as favorites, being embarrassed, etc. The Giannis/Middleton/Lopez/Connaughton/(DiVincenzo) core is sufficiently battle-tested and then you add veterans in the rotation like Jrue, PJ, Portis, Forbes...
Matchups favor Bucks. Experience favors Bucks. Bucks have the best player (Giannis will play)...and even if Giannis didn't play, this team should take Phoenix the distance without him...
I wouldn't be upset if Phx won, but Bucks in 6. This W will stamp Bud as a HOF coach, it'll probably punch Middleton's HOF bid, will increase Jrue's candidacy viability, will make Milwaukee a marquee free agent destination for both vets looking to ring chase and young stars looking to pair with Giannis/Middleton/Lopez...
And will stamp Giannis as a Top 50 All-Timer and climbing despite in the moment understanding he has a ton of growth to show. He's not one of the five best players in the NBA if everyone is healthy. He isnt his team's closer, his defense is definitely "good" but is rather overrated in the sense we know he doesn't seem the superstar matchup in crunch time, when he's struggling he can turn one dimensional offensively, his IQ seems to lag when pressure mounts, etc. But his body of work thru 8 years puts him in a rare class and adding a title to it will make it impossible to leave him off Top 50 lists now, even if we all know he has to display some added layers of greatness...
This W will be remembered for having caught some huge breaks, avoiding Philly, beating a depleted Nets team, catching a mostly youthful and inexperienced Suns aside from Paul and Crowder. No asterisk talk, not saying it was an "easy" run, but they caught alot of advantageous breaks...
Bucks bringing this thing home...
