I wouldn't have had a problem with Idris as Deadshot if Will hadn't been him first. Although I did like him in Suicide Squad, all I saw was Will Smith, not Floyd Lawton. Deadshot is supposed to be a assassin with a death wish whose only soft spot was his daughter. In Suicide Squad he didn't come across as a POS, he came across as just a father wanting to get out the life and raise his daughter. Will Smith is too likable of guy and is evident in his portrayal of Deadshot.

Idris can be a hero and also a POS as evident in The Wire and the movie he was in with Taraji Henson where he was a woman beater(forgot the name).

Unless Gunn's movie is going to be a soft reboot and basically ignore the previous film I can't see him as Deadshot.

The thing is when you make comments like this it makes seem like all the movies flopped ( critically maybe but it’ was a success financially and a lot of people liked Harley , joker and deadshot ) and the people who are fans are less likely to see it

If you fukk with the movies that have come out, can’t take it personally when a high up says something bad towards them. It’s not personal at all. That’s their assessment and seemingly has been for quite a while. When the new boss at WB took over, he threw most of the old crew out because he wasn’t happy with the movies. It’s his baby, his right and he’s signing the checks.

For me, I can see birds of prey, which is about Harley being freed from joker, without it having anything to do with the first movie. From what I’ve read, birds of prey is essentially acting as if that movie didn’t happen anyway. She’s got a toxic relationship with the joker and she wants out.
