How do you give him all that build, all that great dialogue, and then in the 3rd act reduce him to a lackey and have him killed off in such a quick meaningless way with no drama or anything? In fact, it was almost like an old school bond movie where he was killed and then dismissed with a quip

Burton translated the comic book themes and blended them in reality arguably better than Nolan. Not that I blame Nolan; out of all of these "realistic" reboots (Transformers, Man of Steel, etc.) his is easily the best.
