But back to the thread topic, yes, history will soften on Dubya, and it already has.

You got ppl running around acting like Obama himself has brought hte country down when in fact, he might not have taken it up much, but he certainly has NOT made it worse.

The bottom fell out under Bush and people will try to sweep that under the rug to blame Obama

If he can't remedy the situation he isn't blameless.

I'm not sure where I said he was blameless. :beli:

What I did say is, he hasnt done any worse of a job and if he's done anything better then he's a success over Bush. And I'd say hes a success based on that.

:comeon:

There's alot of holes and BS in what you just said.

It sounds real tough, respectable, real right-wingish......but it makes little sense.

Everyone doesnt start off on the same playing field. A kid from the burbs, thru NO EFFORT OF HIS OWN, might be able to go to college b/c his parents pay for it....a kid from the hood might not be able to afford college no matter how bad he wants to go. And he might be smarter, work harder, more determined than the suburb kid who's had it easy. But under your logic, it's "Oh well, sucks to be you!!! :heh:"

There's ppl with free housing who have free housing b/c they're disabled...mentally, physically, etc. They weren't born with the same capabilties or had accidents that left them in their current state. What do you do with these ppl? Let em starve to death outside? Put them out on a boat like Castro did?

The US govt owes much more given what we've seen in the past. Now had the economy always been crappy and we had ppl losing jobs, home, cars by the thousands, then ur post might hold some weight. But the US govt owes it citizens the chance to lead the best lives that they so choose to work hard for....the way it used to be.

A kid in the hood can start chopping up ounces of cocaine if he wants to go to college. Or he can take loans out just like everyone else. CUNY schools aren't very expensive. Why do you feel like the government owes you anything? US citizens have the opportunity to lead the best lives they don't have the right.

You're basically solely placing the blame on Bush when Obama has had every opportunity to make the steps to fix things and he has failed miserably. Obama has spent us deeper into debt further weakening our dollar and security.

:aicmon:

Without some sort of credit and a cosigner that hood kid isn't getting a loan, the best he can hope for are scholarships and a few gov't subsudized loans but as a man with a kid in college and one on the way, it doesn't even cover 10 percent of the cost.

2nd this is the problem with American politics, how are you going to ask any American president to fix in less than 4 years, the damage 8 years of poor presidency has caused. Now no one here is saying Obama has been perfect, far from it. Buts not act like he didn't have a truckload of flaming dogshyt at his doorstep and he's managed to clean up a good amount of it with essentially a do nothing congress (on both sides of the aisle), and a House in turmoil.

Right now I remember Bush as the person who, along with his cronies, made this country do a full 180 in every category and destroyed everything Clinton built just because, and the dude who came with pathetic excuses for spending 80 billion dollars on a war that was never necessary to begin with. I think he will always be remembered as one of those terrible presidents.

To be real, it's already softened. It's only been a couple of years but people forget how incredibly hated this man was. I think the fact that he has practically disappeared will help how people end up looking at him in retrospect, but homey was a HORRENDOUS President. It also helps that the economy has continued to be so bad and worse since he left office; imagine if the economy would have went on an upswing right after he left office.

Real shyt. I hate Bush. I mean hate. The blood of many innocent people are on his hands, including some of my friends.

That being said, no one in the history of mankind has done more for the fight against AIDS in Africa. By all international standards, his initiative there helped save over a million lives, with some estimates saying that the program will save over 20 million lives over it's course.

President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I can at least respect him for that.

That's great but he was the AMERICAN President, and he fukked this country up.

With the way things are going, it's definitely not going to stay that way for long :(

I dont think that the US Government owes its citizenry a fukking thing except a strong military, modern infrastructure, and support the constitution. That's it. No freebies of any kind for anyone, including illegal immigrants, no free college, no free housing, no free anything, no free this or that. NOTHING. Sink or swim.
By that token, govt shouldn't promote policies + companies that ship jobs overseas

Or espouse fiscal/monetary policies that enrich a few at the expense of anyone holding or dependent on the value of a dollar

Or provide guarantees to companies they deem "too big to fail"

You can't talk about freebies and ignore the blatant cronyism taking place. Plus like the Scandinavians and Germans show, if you keep the books balanced it is more than possible to have all the free shyt you are talking about, and its also clear that shyt makes for a better country. People balk at 40-50% tax rates, not even realizing for a lot of degree holders student loans amount to damn near the same thing for most of their adult lives and its only getting worse. 1 emergency room visit can wipe the avg person out... but who is on the other side of that transaction? :youngsabo:

Lol @ arguing against govt aid and citing state subsidized schools as how folks should be getting their higher educations :heh:

Youre right, and the CUNY system is relatively solvent compared to other schools out there. But fukk that, kids should be OK w/10-20% annual tuition hikes

I feel like 88M3 is trolling.

-----------------

As far as Bush goes, given how short the avg American's attn span is these days, and how averse folks like Slystallion are to actually reading up on history before they speak on it, dude has nothing to worry about. People think Obama was the initiator of Bush's 11th hour bailouts, just like people think Reagan created the NAACP :pachaha:
