Absolutely , it definitely has a place in the market for its key demo & place for WWE/Developmental castoffs.
I dont think so. I like it and am glad it's around, and it does pretty good numbers, but I can't imagine it's actually a good, profitable business. It reminds me of like 07-09 TNA where it's a good show, I'm glad it's around, and it has an audience, it's not just bum sh1t, but they're clearly burning money. They're just throwing money at guys to have them, with no idea of what to do with them other than have another name on the roster.
Wrestlenomics estimates they have made 18.7+ million thus far this year on the PPVs, which includes PPV buys, tickets, and merch sales. Not sure how he calculated the merch sales portion of that, is it only the merch sales at the venue?Tony claimed they were closing on $100 million in revenue this year when he was promoting All Out. That might sus but he also cant lie about that. I do know theyve done 3 straight PPVs that generated over a million including Forbidden Door with no stars so they seem straight
Tell that to his pops whose money that he's using to fund his project. Going to fukk around and end up like HHH did when Vince finally rolled up to NXT and started asking questions and seeing what all the money was going to
He's lucky his pops or Discovery Execs haven't showed up already asking questions after what happened at the press conference and incident after.
Where did you interpret that from my comment? No one is going into a business to LOSE money. You’re doing to make any profit whatsoever as that’s what a business is forYou think that Tony decided to run a wrestling company with the goal of flipping 100 or 200 mil into 500 mil or something? I'm sure he wants to be as successful as possible, but if your goal is just flipping 100 or 200 mil into 500 mil or a billion or whatever, PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING in 2019 and on is not one of the first 100 investments that come to mind.
And that's OK. If it was just about making money nobody would put the necessary money in to making a viable 2nd company. Who is that confident in pro wrestling nowadays to do that? Any viable 2nd company is gonna be run by a money mark. And so fans shouldn't clown him for it too hard. Everything's better with legit competition, and it's not happening without a guy like Tony who's loaded and wants to live out his childhood fantasy.

Where in my comment did I say that he was doing it to turn it into a billion? You interpreted that from my comment when I never insinuated that at all.Of course he's trying to make money now that it exists. I mean the decision to start AEW was not made with the thought of "How do I flip 100-200 mil into a billion... Oh, with a new wrestling company!" Realistically Tony's gotta be driven to start AEW by living out his fantasy of being wrestling promoter more than anything.

And if Tony Khan doesn’t turn it on into a reasonable profit, then the person whose money he is using is going to come calling and asking questions, which is exactly what happened with HHH. You can do that passion project with someone else’s money, but you better make sure that it amounts to something. You didn't say it, but that's why any businessman would sink 100-200 mil into starting something. That's a lot to risk, there's gotta be the hope that it turns into something a lot more, if you're only motivated by money. Because there's investments out there with that type of potential for a businessman just motivated by money, and its probably not wrestling.
