Which branch were you enlisted in, MOS, for how long and where were you stationed?

My right hand man was in the Army for 8+ years, stationed in Germany, became a sergeant, trained his units, and lived rent free on numerous bases. Plus he went and gotten his 4 year degree for free and free healthcare for life. Sounds awfully close to socialism.

The military is the best form of American socialism THERE IS!

For all active units, they get FREE housing, FREE food, free guns, free healthcare, and free college tuition. Name me a single instance where an active soldier is homeless and say to his commander "I can't fight in the battle today. I got no place to live."

I agree that the Army is extremely socialist by nature. All that stuff isn’t really free though. If there’s one thing that is capitalist about it all, is looking at how much of your check is taken out to pay for all that on top of the taxes lol. Everything, issued to you, is free unless you lose it though. Your housing and food comes out of your check unless you are able to live off post. The medical care and education as basically free as well. You do pay a little at the beginning but eventually you stop.

The longer you're in the service, the more linear your thinking is in regards to certain things especially when you're physically exposed to it.

I've been to Venezuela post Chavez, which was an adventure in itself since we had to cross over from Colombia to even get into VZ. I think folks here are just in love with the ideal of Socialism and are dismissive of it's flaws, which are painfully apparent for those people down there. And it's hilarious because if you're wealthy..you can still get your steak and potatoes, your Dolce and Gabbana, full cart of groceries, etc..you're paying more but who cares if you're rich. The end game falls to the same line..the rich stay rich and everyone else just falls to waste side.

I think most of these young folks toying with these ideals are "sparkles in their eyes", naive, idealists who don't have a clue of historical precedent and have not actually exposed themselves enough to merit carrying a banner for a system that's inherently foreign to them.

Pointing to the living conditions of capitalist states in comparison to socialist/communist states is the height of intellectual dishonesty. 1.) the West is ahead because of slavery/colonialism not superior economic practice
2.) That proposition totally ignores the Cold War and all the subversion tactics the CIA used to topple democratically elected socialist governments; totally disregarding the Cold War would definitely fall under the category of “who don't have a clue of historical precedent”
3.) Among developed countries the US living conditions suck

That’s exactly what it is. Have more anger and ire for the landlord instead of the actual culprit of the problem.

It’s amazing how people will be ready to throw hands and fight their landlord, but won’t say a word when the bank steps into the fold. Have the same energy for one as you do the other.

Putting power in the Individual so you can be the supplier of your own wealth, instead of depending on Washington DC to solve all of your problems, when they are clueless on your specific economic needs as a person. Interesting concept isn't it



And the irony is that the same Government ya'll love is more Moderate and will NEVER elect a Socialist representative. But will dangle Socialism to keep ya'll dependent on the Government and make their pockets fatter
