Premieres at TIFF, then the London Film Festival. I liked it. Some standout performances for sure. Great, great acting. Reviews might be mixed, but damn if they didn't show you the political disarray that is Chicago. I think if you liked "Boss" you will like this, personally.

Also, I didn't see it at first, but Kaluuya is a monster.

Why do you think reviews might be mixed? How does it compare to other films from director (any potential Oscars)? How is the action/cinematography?

The men I have spoken with seemed to like it, while the women seem to be feel differently. I guess the best way I can describe the film is if you've seen the movie Syriana, there are multiple stories going on at the same time, which ties the whole story together. However, there isn't a neat ending where every single story gets wrapped up. If you are looking for payoffs to every single story, there aren't any. Now, that doesn't mean the movie doesn't work, it just means there are some people who view the film are going to wish there were no loose threads.

But McQueen is telling a bigger story than the Widows themselves. There are other subtle things going on here that remain ongoing as they always have in a world of politically motivated individuals.
