Dope movie
Movie was dope. One of my favorite scenes was when Colin Farrell just finished his speech in the hood and they were riding home down 47th st. That was shot in real time and it shows how quickly the blocks change from grimey to Kenwood mansions in the same district. I wasn't expecting the political angle. It gave the film a lot of depth.
Yup, being from and living in Chicago I know how real that shyt is. You can go from :huhldup:to:whoo:in a few blocks. You know Mulligan isn't taking no fukking green line even though it runs through his ward.

The camera work on the gym/freestyle scene was :whoo:

It was a dope movie, I didn't even realize that Mikey rocks & & Inglish freestyling in the dumpster..:russ:
Was waiting on someone to point out that the Cool Kids got gunned down :pachaha:

This movie had some INCREDIBLE performances. There were a few holes in the plot but not enough to kill my enjoyment.

ANY movie that can pull the “He’s REALLY alive!” twist and make it surprising in 2018 is a damn movie worth seeing.

Kauluuya absolutey murked it.

Very much enjoyed this movie but I'm not surprised at the mixed audience reception (the rotten tomatoes score). Definitely think I'll appreciate it more on a second watch. I did appreciate a lot of the shots tho. (The use of mirrors in various shots and the shot of the bowling alley)
I'm honestly unsure if this was intentional or not but (i don't think it was) but when Michelle Rodriguez character is with that dude that says his wife died a couple months ago, her crying came across like she was going to use that commonality between them to actually get some information from him but she didn't get any. The audience kinda laughed when she started to cry.

Saw this Friday. 8/10, great theme wise and had some dope scenes but there are actually a lot of little things that were like 'Really?' but not enough to ruin it.

- when the entire truck exploded in the double cross heist I knew someone lived. It was too purposeful and convenient they were all burnt to a crisp. But wouldn't they use dental records to ID bodies and see Liam's weren't there? Didn't think of who and why but I was like, "Don't be surprised if one or all characters in the heist lived." While watching.
- Viola did not convince me the gangsters were going after ALL the widows. They should have had a scene where Jamal stepped to one of them or something. And if her plan was to give my name to them I would have kicked her ass before she left the sauna meeting.
- Yeah the car scene with Colin arguing with his girl and showing the change of the neighborhood was the highlight of the movie. They were leaving the hood, no matter the out come of the election dude would be fine but the pressure of achievement/white privilege was getting to young Mulligan. Fantastic.
- Didn't like how Daniel Kaluuya's character died. I see the point he underestimated them but it could have been more intricate than it was.
- Acting was great, everyone did their thing. Michelle Rodriguez was the weakest tho and Debicki was surprisingly strong. Kaluuya was the highlight wish he got more screen time.
- Did Veronica payoff her debt to Jamal or nah? Even if they did I'm sure he would be pissed about his brother. Seemed like a story string left hanging.
- Didn't like how Liam died either, he knew she was armed why turn your back on your wife you betrayed in the worst way? Kinda dumb move for a supposedly smart character.

They paid off the detective that was working the case. They mentioned that when they were on the boat.
