The calm before the storm. :lupe:

Looking ahead to March 2023 and that month is on track to be packed with heat. Scream 6, Creed 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, Shazam 2, and the Dungeons and Dragons flick that actually doesn’t look bad. :gladbron:

The Rock can 'Smile' as 'Black Adam' Takes Apart the Competition 'Piece' by Piece; is the Number 'One Film:' Weekend Box Office Results (Nov. 4-6)

3 weekends, 3 first place finishes for Black Adam. This weekend saw a better than expected hold of -32.6% for $18.5M. That hold was better Hobbs and Shaw's third weekend drop of 43.9% which resulted in a $133.7M gross to date, at that point. At $137.3M, Black Adam is #10 at the Domestic Box Office this year. Next up are Uncharted and Elvis at $148.6M and $151M, respectively. Black Panther will likely push it down a spot after next weekend though. For now, Black Adam can celebrate being number one again and grossing $319.6M worldwide.

Black heroes winning either way.

Taking second place was newcomer One Piece Film: Red, with $9.4M. It now stands at $141.6M worldwide. After one weekend, this film is looking like it's in the black, not the red. Domestically, this Crunchyroll anime is well off the pace of Dragon Ball Super's $26.1M debut back in August, where it averaged $7K per theater compared to One Piece's $4K per theater. Dragon Ball had a Super 77.8% drop in its second weekend so we'll see how far this shyt falls next week.

one-piece-one-piece-red.gif

Ticket to Paradise is looking like it has the golden touch. It only fell 13.6% as it grossed another $8.5M. Of course, that 13.6% decline was helped by the fact that it expanded to 4,066 theaters. Last weekend, it averaged $2,668 per theater compared to this weekend's $2,092. It's now totaled $46.7M domestically and $137.2M worldwide. Not a bad start for a Rom-Com. That's 32% behind The Lost City's $68.7M pace after 3 weekends. Both films are rom-coms with 2 big stars. Yeah, I'll take Bullock and Tatum over Roberts and Clooney.

oh-come-on-julia-roberts.gif

Sorry, Julia. I always liked Sandra more. :manny:

Smile remained in 4th place with another $4M. It continues to hold well, only dropping 26.4% off of last weekend. It's now at $99.1M domestically after 6 weekends, jussssst missing out on the coveted $100M mark. It'll make it on Tuesday. It has crossed $200M worldwide with $202.9M. A huge achievement for an original horror movie that not even Paramount saw coming. Scream, which, for my money, is the best running horror franchise, "only" made $81.6M domestically and $140M worldwide.

scared-rose-cotter.gif

Ghostface is coming for that ass in March.

Rounding out the top 5 was Prey for the Devil with ticket sales of $3.8M. It only fell 46.1% from it's debut weekend when it finished in 3rd place. That's a very good hold for a horror movie, particularly a middling one. That's grosses of $13.6M domestic and $18.1M worldwide after two weeks.

more-sister-ann.gif

More what, Sister Ann? More money at the box office? Sister Ann, you're getting the blood of Chris flowing. :patrice:

The one horror movie that I did watch was the Patriots - Colts game. It wasn't horrifying but it was horrible. It was a horror movie where nothing happened for long stretches and then we got a couple of nice kills with the blocked punt and my cousin Jonathan Jones with the pick-6. At the end, it was 26-3. There were bodies everywhere. It was like watching Pearl. Sorry, @Lootpack :mjlol:

Notables Outside the Top Five

Halloween Ends grossed another $1.4M and now stands at $102.9M worldwide. All 3 movies in the trilogy have now grossed $100M+ at the worldwide box office.

Terrifier 2 held strong with another $1.2M and now stands at $10M worldwide.

Oscar-bait movies Armageddon Time ($810K) and Tár ($670K) finished in 12th and 13th place. :picard:

Man I’d rather take my chances sitting through Amsterdam again, watch paint dry, or literally do anything else besides watching that game.

Smile should easily cross $100 mil before the next weekend. Grand dub for Paramount and they’re en route to kick ass again next year.

Todd Field ain’t drop a movie in over 15 years, I doubt he’s that mad over TÁR’s box office performance when it’s getting mass praise in other avenues. Gave it a watch last week as well. It’s a solid flick minus the underwhelming closer.

What's at the Movies this Weekend? Nov. 11-13

The moment is here when the Black Panther appear. Chadwick is gone; his spirit still there. I'm writing this with the new Nas bumping. What can I say? I'm a proud Jones, youngin. Hood2Hood, Brotha2Brotha, Cousin2Cousin.

BlackAdam2BlackPanther. Jackie Robinson 2 James Brown 2 Thurgood Marshall 2 T'Challa? Black excellence is the answer. It may be cliche: fukk cancer. Rest in power to the King. You'll forever do your thing. In the ethereal plane, yours is an eternal reign.

I can't sing, so while I'm locked in this body bing, I'ma do this rapping movie thing.

Like Wakanda, I can't rap forever. Playing in 4,396 theaters, boy you ain't clever. Get ya shyt together. Leave the rhyming to pros and stick with the prose.

Like I said before I was so rudely interrupted by that mothafukka who tried to stop my shine, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be playing in 4,396 theaters this weekend. It'll actually be shown in 6 fewer theaters than Black Adam's widest release of 4,402. Thor: Love and Thunder's opened in 4,375 theaters. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opened in 4,534. :whoo:

The question is "will Black Panther 2 outgross Doctor Strange 2's $187.4M opening?" It sound like a tall task but not when you look at recent MCU openings. Black Panther opened with $202M in 2018 in 4,020 theaters. Thor: Love and Thunder opened with $144.1M. That was up from Ragnarok's $122.7M. I really don't see why it shouldn't do $190 to $200M. Maybe more. Whatay'all think? Let me know in the comments below like this is a fukkin YouTube video. :mjlol:

Do I even need to post the trailer? I'm sure you've seen it no less than 7 times by now. For posterity. :ehh:

Ticket to Paradise will cross $50M.

Black Adam looks to get to the $150M mark. It currently sits at $141.5M. We'll see how much of it's shine Black Panther steals.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is closing in on $40M, as it sits at $37.4M.

Smile crossed $100M on Wednesday.

Speaking of horror, Halloween Ends, is this close to passing $65M domestically. It's grossed $63.8M so far in it's lackluster run.

Black Panther-ess Pretender? Wakanda Forever New Number One For November: Weekend Box Office Results (Nov.11-13)

Let's not bury the lede. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set a record for biggest November weekend ever at the Domestic Box Office with $180M. Shuri beat Katniss Everdeen and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire's $158M from back in 2013. That was the best Hunger Games movie. Came out on my niece's birthday and I took her to see it. That's my little connection to the previous November record holder. :mjlol:

Wakanda Forever came up just shy of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' $187.4 opening back in May for the best opening weekend of 2022. After one weekend, Wakanda Forever already stands as the number 8 movie at this year's Domestic Box Office. It didn't reach Black Panther's $202M but it smashed Thor: Love and Thunder's $144.1M. So, how'd it get there?

It started with the Thursday previews where it did $28M. That's good for number 15 all time, behind Love and Thunder's $29M and Multiverse of Madness' $36M. It was ahead of Black Panther's $25.2M. It had a $56M Friday when you subtract previews, an even better $56.5M Saturday and a $39.5M Sunday, assuming a 30% drop. Pretty good for Chadwick-less led Black Panther. Oh, yeah, it grossed $330M worldwide. Almost forgot.

black-panther-wakanda-forever-black-panther.gif

From Wakanda, we head to Kahndaq, where Black Adam's $8.6M was good for second place. Just a little black on black violence. Nothing like a couple of crabs in a barrel pulling each other down. :troll: That was a 52.9% drop from last weekend, which I think Rocky and the Warner Bros will take given Wakanda Forever's debut. That brings the domestic total to $151.1M and it's worldwide total to $352.2M. While run damn near outgrossed by one weekend of Wakanda Forever. :wow:

look-to-the-side-black-adam.gif

George Clooney's Ticket to Paradise took third place with $6.1M. It held strong in it's fourth weekend with only a 28.6% drop. It's now grossed $149.9M worldwide, including $56.5M domestically.

you-dont-need-my-help-there-julia-roberts.gif

You helped to, Julia. I didn't forget about you but I thought I made it clear last week when I said we like Sandra better than you.

You know who was immune to Black Panther's charms? Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile that's who. It's $3.2M represented only a 5% drop from last weekend. :leon: It's now passed the $40M mark domestically at $40.8M. Good for you, Lyle.

feeling-cute-lyle.gif

Rounding off the top five and holding strong with $2.3M was Smile. It's now got a domestic cume of $102.7M. It's jussssst shy of $210M worldwide at $209.977M. It'll be on Epic next week and Paramount+ this Friday. It's another ⭐⭐⭐ 2022 horror movie.

Notables Outside the Top Five

Prey for the Devil continues to hold strong with $2M. That represented a 48.4% drop from it's second weekend. It's now grossed $16.9M domestically $26.1M worldwide.

Steven Spielberg's semi-autobiographical, The Fabelmans, grossed $160K from four theaters. It goes wide on the 23rd.
