Venom: Knull and Void: Weekend Box Office Results (Oct. 25-27)

Venom is back for the third, and ostensibly, last time. Hence, The Last Dance. And if it is to be the last time Tom Hardy's Lethal Protector graces the silver screen, at least it goes out on top with a $51M opening. It's actually the worst (by far) opening in the Venom franchise, after Let There be Carnage's $90M and Venom's $80.2M. Both of the previous Venom flicks went on to make the identical $213.5M. :dwillhuh: That means that the returns have been diminishing when you consider Let There be Carnage's great start. And with a B- CinemaScore compared to B+ of the first two Venom's, it's not looking too good for longevity at the domestic box office.

Fortunately, it wasn't a complete disaster. The Last Dance's $51M is not the $37.6M that Joker: Folie à Deux produced. :whew: And it did make an astronomical $124M overseas for a total global opening of $175M. It just underperformed its projections, domestically, which were supposed to be $65M.

If you ever read the deadline box office articles, you can see the
juelz-talking.gif
in real time. It happened with Joker 2 where the projections were $50M after the first Joker debuted with $96.2M opening and Anthony D'Alessandro was like "who wouldn't want a $50M opening in today's climate?" :mjcry: With Venom, he was blaming the World Series and Call of Duty. :dead: Why you feel the need to place blame at all? I mean, $50M is $50M. And who wouldn't be happy with that opening in today's movie climate? :troll:

The World Series

Baseball

In 2024. Stifling the box office. :russ:

Smile 2 is #2 with $9.4M which was a 59.2% drop. The first Smile damn near doubled the sequel up with an $18.5M second weekend, which was only an 18% decrease from its opening. Its $40.7M running total after 2 weeks is 19.9% behind Smile's $50.8M. Franchise commercial disappointment aside, Smile 2 is the #5 horror movie of the year and is looking to pass Terrifier 3's $44.5M.

creepy-smile-smile-2.gif

With $6.5M, The Wild Robot took 3rd. Its $111.3M total just passed IF's $111.1M to become the 14th highest grossing movie this year. 13th place is around the corner with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire making $113.3M.

looking-at-butterflies-roz.gif

4th place belongs to a new entry: Conclave, with $6.5M. What is Conclave? From Focus Features:

Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is tasked with running this covert process after the unexpected death of the beloved Pope. Once the Catholic Church's most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence uncovers a trail of deep secrets left in the dead Pope's wake--secrets which could shake the foundations of the Church.

Last Ralph Fiennes joint I saw was The Menu. Might have to peep this. :ehh:

Fifth place once again belongs to We Live in Time, this time with $4.8M. That was a +15% burst over last week, which sounds great, and it is, on the surface. However, it had to expand by 1,983 theaters in order to get there. It's per theater average was actually only $1.6K vs. last week's $4.2K average. Still, it's always better to be up than down, even if the numbers is a lil funny style.

Notables

Joker: Folie à Deux fell from Top 10 (6th) to not mentioned at all (13th) with only $600K :mjlol: Its total is $57.8M.

The Nightmare Before Christmas, which I was watching on Freeform earlier, made another $507K and is up to $5.8M.

The other Disney re-release, Hocus Pocus, made $363K and has made $1.5M in its 2 weeks.

Venom's 2nd Week Comeback Saves The Last Dance: Weekend Box Office Results (Nov. 1-3)

Venom: The Last Dance held better than anyone could've predicted with $25.9M. That -42.9% drop is far and away the best in the Venom franchise. Venom fell by 56% in its second weekend when it made $35M while Let There be Carnage saw a 65% dip with its $31.7M. Not bad at all after a pedestrian start.

Godzilla Minus One returned to 1,365 theaters and grossed $479K :ehh:

The Nightmare Before Christmas made another $82K and had grossed $6M during its Halloween season re-release. Last year's 30th anniversary re-release made $10.2M.

Venom's Dance Continues to Last: Weekend Box Office Results (Nov. 8-10)

Venom: The Last Dance made it 3 for 3 as it finished number one again with a $16.2M weekend. It's the only movie in the franchise now to be number one on three weekends. Let There be Carnage only finished first in its debut and Venom went back to back in its first two weekends. :ehh:

With $114.8M and counting, it's the #14 domestic box office this year, moving ahead of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire's $113.3M . Red One will knock Venom out of the top spot next week, but after a tepid $51M, opening The Last Dance bounced back nicely in the ensuing weeks and made the most of its little 3-week window.

venom-venom-3.gif

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever opened with $11.1M. That's a rare "win" for the beleaguered Lionsgate, and their second best opening of the year, behind the $11.8M of The Strangers: Chapter 1. It got an A CinemaScore and is playing in over 3,000 theaters so maybe it will have a little life in it with the holiday season fast approaching. :manny:

Third place, for now, belongs to Heretic, with an $11M opening. That's 67% higher than A24's MaXXXine, which did $6.7M in July.

After an improbable 2nd place finish last weekend where it was up an incredible 9.4%, The Wild Robot continued to impress with $6.6M in its 7th weekend. With $130.8M, it's the 4th highest grossing animated movie this year and 13th best overall. :ehh:

the-wild-robot.gif

Smile 2 closes out the top five with $5M. It's made $60.5M after 4 weeks -- 28% behind Smile's $84.4M at the same point in time. :scust: But hey, it's the 4th highest grossing horror movie this year, ahead of Terrifier 3's $53.3M.

Anthony Mackie's Elevation opened with $1.1M from 1,416 theaters.

The Substance, which I watched last weekend, made another $235K and has grossed $16M.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Moana 2 will be on top until The Lion King Prequel/Sonic 3 comes out. There’s actually going to be a pretty diverse set of family films dropping this holiday season. :ehh: I wish some people would go see Flow, although I feel like there hasn’t been a lot of advertising for it, but truthfully, I don’t watch a lot of TV so I wouldn’t know.

Hate it for Nosferatu. :francis:
