Another thing to add is how the electricity will be created to meet the demand to charge all these cars.
Electric is certainly a step in the right direction, but trains will always be superior people movers.
Obviously, cities would have to be redesigned, but we have to remember that most cities in the US were designed to be walked, traversed in a cart, or by railed street car/subway. Swaths of inhabited land in the cities werebdestroyed to make room for the interstate, we can revert.

I prefer my vehicles to have less software. Good luck servicing your EV without going to a licensed shop. Electric vehicle companies are fighting tooth and nail against right to repair laws. Should tell you all you need to know about their ethics.

Way to rationalize rent seeking and loss of ownership....My boy who worked at the Tesla factory told me those things came in all the time with issies. Also, electronics fail a lot in current ICE cars. Powertrains easily last over 200k miles. It's the only reason to get an extended warranty on one.

I love them. They're just expensive right now and car companies keep making the designs so damn hideous.
But as time goes on (especially by 2035 when a lot of states are demanding new gas exclusive cars stop being sold) the prices will come down and the designs will look better.

EVs are cool. But they're not practical. And worse for the environment than regular combustion engine vehicles.

And your second point has no basis in reality. Gas-powered cars aren’t the future because of their adverse environmental impact. There’s a reason every automaker is throwing billions at alternative power(EV and Hydrogen).

Its proven ev batteries are terrible for the environment. From harvesting minerals. To disposing of the battery. Also unethical mining is a whole other issue. This is an issue already and what % of the population is driving ev? Imagine when everybody is. Its also not sustainable.
The push for ev's is not about the environment its about making money. Thats why every auto maker is moving towards ev's because the politicians pushing "clean" energy are all cashing in alternative energy. Their marketing is great, thats why they got all the fan boys thinking they're saving the world while india and china are destroying the climate.
