  1. He was misunderstood by the media constantly as a person who was a bad influence among teens, like Kurt Cobain with his grunge music back in the 90's.

  2. He was a different lyricist. Like Kurt, X writes about some very emotional stuff unlike his rapper counterparts, but also knows how to write things that lift people's spirits and gets them turnt up. Kind of like Kurt Cobain writing style that was the opposite of his Rock/Alternative/Grudge counterparts. This is giving music to two different kinds of demographics. (X with "I Don't Wanna Do This Anymore" and "Look At Me!" and Kurt with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Heart-Shaped Box")

  3. Both had a very depressing past. With family and relationships. (X with being sent to jail under domestic abuse for hurting his girlfriend and Kurt with his stressful relationship with Courtney Love)

  4. They both have taken two genres of music and have combined them to later become the frontman of a new genre. X combined Rock with Rap/Hip Hop while Kurt combined Emo with Alternative and Rock to lead a a new genre of grunge music. Like Kurt, X is starting to influence many artists to join his style of music.

  5. Although both have so much money, power, and fame, there are deep thoughts that are racking and eating their brain alive that lead them to a deep depression and suicidal thoughts because the pressure from the media, relationships, family, and always trying to impress people with their music.

Nirvanna was huge when Kurt died. Like International the only comparison would have been if one of them One Direction dudes offed themselves after 2nd or 3rd album.

Kurt Cobain was an international star when he died.

The majority of people had no idea who XXXtentacion was before he died.

I'm not a Cobain nor Nirvana fan, but this comparison falls short. I see what you were trying to do, but......nah.

I am an old school head and within the context of this generation, and not our generation, I will not be surprised if he has the type of cult following Cobain does in the future.

Kid was as talented as you can get it when it came to crafting songs. While I never condone demonic behavior, he made two amazing albums in 17 and ?.

He’s definitely going to reach legend status with these young people.

XXX was no where near as big as Nirvana/Kurt Cobain.

I haven't heard one song from the kid. But he will gain some new fans like most musical artists who die in the middle of their career do.

At best, he'll continue to have a cult underground following but life goes on --- hopefully he had unreleased music that will keep his name out there for the next few years.

Another young soundcloud rapper will take his place and his young, forgetful fan base tho.

Yeah, I can see his legacy becoming something similar as far a cult following. He really did create two best albums ever from a soundcloud artist.

thats crazy considering you probably havent herd 100 artists from soundcloud.

at this point nothing yall (not you particularly) can make him a legend.

he was a talented artist; but he was no groundbreaker.

a lotta these "yo i love heavy metal and rock and roll slash post malone lil uzi" generation is lacking contextual history

Nirvana and Kurt were much bigger and pioneered a genre that became popular and influenced countless bands since.

I see where the parallels may come from but it's really not that comparable.
