If WWE was still the only major promotion on US TV I'd agree.

Dudes have more opportunity now and can make more money than before. :yeshrug:

Financials reported that they squeezed more money out of the average fan. Its also being reported that not running house shows during the pandemic is actually making them more money.

The ratings for raw are 1.9 million. You guys have no clue how pathetic that is. There is not a God damn thing on TV and people still won't watch this shyt. We can safely say that there's only 2 million fans of wrestling in America.

It's a dying industry. The only thing valuable is it's tape library. Wouldn't be surprised if that's worth atleast 100 mill. Vince is legitimately an awful businessman, he failed at everything he tried. All he did was considered the industry, which any businessman with the most money does. Every other thing he does is a collosal failure.

There’s def more than 2 million wrestling fans overall in the US. You gotta remember ratings only tell who watched live or on DVR before the day changes.

There’s people who watch only watch on DVR, Hulu, clips on YouTube, watch other promotions, only watch PPVs monthly and people who just ain’t trying to watch empty arena shows.

I’m not saying it’s a huge number but that group at least adds up to a million people. Though I do wonder if the ones in that latter group will really come back once crowds are allowed.

I would think its safer to be in wrestling in this day n age than in the past.

The wrestlers from the 80’s and 90’s have been dying every year. Killed their bodies with steroids, coke, alcohol, traveling 300+ days to make 50 bucks a week.

It’s definitely much safer time to be a wrestler now.

They don’t pay to travel internationally. They pay for accommodations.

Not everyone has to work in an office or fast food. :skip:

The odds of making it big time and getting a decent check aren’t really high though. :ld:

shyt, we grew up with the IWC. We’ve all read how fukked up things are and the struggles it takes to be a wrassler. I don’t know why people wouldn’t want to stay a fan than pursue a possible career in the biz. :manny:

Actually the IWC would make more people get into the biz as people who started in wrestling boards have ended up with jobs at news sites or even getting job in small (and even big) promotions, and of course, others actually became wrestlers.

But it’s not like it was during the AE. I’m sure they were making more back then.

It sure as hell is better than in the early to mid 00's and that was actually the indy boom were most wrestlers were just following their dreams. Not sure why today, were there's more platforms, promotions and avenues to make money, would be less enticing to follow the "wrestling dream".

I guess we can put into question why would anyone dream of becoming a wrestler in 2020 but I don't see why not, to be honest. shyt, 2 or 3 years from now young brehs might think the biz is less scum filled than before because of the stuff that's happening now (they might believe some sort of cleansing took place) and one thing's that inherent to wrestling is fans loving it with a passion.

Nowadays you get in because you love it as a kid and want to do it, though there are still a few guys who finish their brief NFL careers and transition like Moose and Baron Corbin. Those guys are some of the only non-marks left.

Ryback blew up faster than expected so his contract was :trash: in comparison to his popularity.

Either way wrestlers are getting hoed with their merch in general.
