:patrice:More folks ride for the south though. I rarely see east coast bias unless its for trolling purposes.
This is obviously an new York centric board breh. Why you think nas is so hyped and loved on here? They got mobb deep beating out nwa and outcast in polls, west coast gets disrespected on here, this board is very pro-new York

nah nikkas ride for the south on here but we still get hit with the "thats regional" shyt when discussing classics and lyricists....i know from experience pulling that same shyt on east coast nikkas will get you negged into oblivion...but my rep never suffered because nikkas also give me rep on some underground railroad shyt...like "thanks for saying that, i know you bout to get killed"

everytime i speak up on Nas or Mobb Deep, for example, I get negged and repped for days straight...but the repping nikkas dont say shyt in the thread

Well in my opinion, and as a southern cat, I like Mobb Deep over NWA

This is an East coast forum breh. And you know how new York nikkas be. You not getting no love if you're not from there.

:duck:

Trick is dumb underrated lyrically...matter fact, ALL southern rappers with big club singles are crazy underrated cause they're primarily known for the singles and aren't editorialized like east coast nikkas are...Juvenile suffers from the same shyt

plus, southern lyricism is just different...the slang, the drawl...sometimes people dont really understand that southern nikkas are spitting cause it aint set up like a Jadakiss line

Which explains all the Kendrick/Game/Nipsey dikklicking, and the "best album of the year" lists being dominated by West Coast artists?

Thread No.6 - Hip Hop albums with the best production in your opinion from 1993

Well, unsurprisingly, Dr Dre's 'The Chronic' won by a landslide, taking more than 3/4 of the votes with Mecca & the soul brother coming 2nd.

For the posters bringing up the Dr Dre/west coast albums always winning, 1993 is the year which you could label as the beginning of the East Coast Renaissance. So despite a certain 'huge' west coast album, produced by a certain producer (who has seen great success in this thread series), releasing that year, an east coast album could have a chance of winning this thread

Leaderboards so far:
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1988 - N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (2nd)
EPMD - Strictly Business / Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick (Joint 3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1989 - The D.O.C. - No One Can Do It Better
Too Short - Life Is...Too Short (2nd)
De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising (3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1990 - Ice Cube - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm (2nd)
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet (3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1991 - N.W.A - Nikkaz4Life
DJ Quik - Quik Is the Name (2nd)
Ice Cube - Death Certificate (3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1992 - Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - Mecca and the Soul Brother (2nd)
Redman - Whut? Thee Album / The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (Joint 3rd)

receipts: Best Produced Hip Hop Album - 1993

Y'all will say anything

Instead of y'all deflecting to "b-b-because New York", just post them Trick Daddy classics. Thanks

Trick Daddy used to be the man at one point. He had crazy buzz and was all over the place, then he just kinda ran his course. His debut all the way up until Married To The Streets were low-key good stuff, even that Thugs R Us album which was basically a compilation. Kinda happy to see his slight resurgence right now.

Trick was dope and had a good run but i think he peaked relatively quick and doesn't make music regularly so he gets overlooked.

Nah.
I see what you're saying but nikkas like MJG.
MJG is a far better rapper than Trick.
Trick is a "make you feel it guy....not a WOW guy.
Lyricism is more WOW than, "damn that's real" to some people.
Juvenile is a better rapper, he used more flows, actually had super dope lines, etc...
you put an east coast accent on dude, he's still nice.
trick? his words rhyme BECAUSE of his accent. Is he garbage? No. Is he average? no.
Is he above average? Yup.
your framing is outdated and rap hasn't been that regional in a long time. Trick made a fool out of himself on social media and that's probably why a lot of people don't take the man seriously...even though he had some hard tracks.
Cee-Lo on "In da wind"? Lyricism. Wasn't set up like 4 syllable max Jadakiss, either...who isn't considered a lyricism genius, just top 5 for entry level nikkas who think Cassidy similes are impressive (a smart rapper for dumb nikkas, basically). (to me)
c'mon now breh...The south has brehs like Jugga The Bully, Blaxuede, MJG, TI, Dirtbag, T Rocc, C-Ride.
those are lyricists.
In my opinion.

Trick went off on this....still gets me amped

Still makes me wish label politics ain't get in the way of the original Boyz N Da Hood (Trick, TIP, Weezy, Sean Paul (Youngbloodz) and Jody Breeze)

I also think Trick don't get acknowledge cause most outside the south look at him as a club rapper based off his singles also he got overshadowed by Trina & Ross. Also someone already mentioned but he kinda started fall off round Thug Matrimony
