It's also a cultural shift too, all these big/fat nikkas want to now is wear fitted jeans and won't embrace the fact they can truly control a game in ways skill players cant.

A lot of these big fukkers don't even really learn how to use their bodies until they're in the NFL...and many of them have body image issues because they can't wear the same shyt that smaller dudes can.

Most semi athletic big nikkas been doing this for decades. :russ: All of em think they skill players

It's coach and QB. Same reason Miami fell off, look at the QB's since Dorsey. Same thing Florida is currently going thru since Tebow and Urban's departure.
I think Herman is good enough coach. He finds his QB and Texas will be back. Same with Richt in Miami and once Mullen get our QB, we coming back for our spot

This is where it begins and ends, Texas gets a lot of hype, but in the last 50 years has not done much, and despite all the money and talent that Texas draws/drew under brown has only won the big 12 what twice ??

The other issue is, the boosters rule the roost and nothing is going to change that unfortunately

Herman has shown his ineptitude early, I’m not impressed, (i know he still needs time, but i felt like the leash was short for strong, so forgive me if I’m not hyped to give him hella chances) and the one thing he was supposed to fix, he really didn’t (offense) honestly the defense saved him most games

Charlie Strong was a good coach that had an argues task of cleaning up a program that had fallen off big, he made sure the men excelled at academics, he got rid of problematic players, the issue was he did not have the staff around him, and he was not progressing the team field wise
But he went 16-21 (worst three year record of any coach of the program), lost to Kansas in his third year, never finished above .500, went 1-2 against OU, and blown out three times by TCU. Like I said if he finished 8-5 in 2016, he would have been back in 2017. But in his third year, in an era where programs expects results immediately by the third or even second year, you are still putting out sub.500 season, how shocked do you think how short the leash would be?

Btw, if Herman goes 6-6 this year, you will definitely start to hear more rumblings. But the fact of the matter is, the team was better coached last year. In the last 50 years, they won mutiple conference titles in the swc and big 12 tho only three in the big 12, played in 5 mnc games I believe winning three of them.

Exactly....that's why it's crazy OU seems to win those recruiting battles so much more. Doesn't feel as even as you'd expect.

Kinda makes sense though. A breh growing up in big city Dallas, or even Houston is not going to see Austin as a step up. Some might prefer fewer distractions......maybe.

No they do not, and haven't for years. Recruiting has not been an issue at Texas. The biggest issue is we haven't had a QB pan out since Colt McCoy and the OL has been bad.

I literally said,Strong was not cutting the mustard, i also laid out, that his staff was not getting it done, (lack of innovation and progression) I’ll add, that he wasn’t getting those big names that Texas usually lands, more men were choosing Oklahoma, with the emergence of TAMU/TCU a lot of players are going there too, also Strong started going after high character, High GPA kids too, with that you end up winning more in the classroom, but not the field.
bottom line, he was charged with changing the culture, he did, but could not change it on the field, i think he needed more time. This is eerily reminiscent of Charlie Wise (sp) getting a ND team, that ty built up and won a bit, then got ridiculous contract.

Herman is a phony to me honestly, but we will see

I was responding to your point that he had a short leash which I don't agree with as he had every opportunity to succeed. He never was going to get the time after having three sub.500 seasons. If either one of those seasons were above .500, he would still be the HC at Texas but no top program historically is going to give a coach a long leach if he cannot produce on the field.

Yep. Texas has to go out of state to get Dlineman and linebackers. The Texas colleges don't want to come out and say it but they know it's a problem. We talked about this last year.
I understand this... but are y'all not going to recruit no lineman! :why: This is the second year in the row y'all pulling that stunt... all 5 star athletes... no big men in the trenches. Aggies don't seem to have this problem.

It’s still only July. Texas has a good finish last year with the trenches. They got a 5 star lineman and could get another one in a couple weeks. But yeah, most have noticed that as well when it comes to talent up front.
