Moral of the story is that life isn't always fair. Point blank.
One of my favorite cousins is a woman who will 99.99% marry a white dude. The closest she's ever gotten to a brother is a mixed dude. She gives white dudes passes for things she'd rip on brothers for doing. And she covers it all up with "just my preference" pleas. I love her, but her issues with attraction, etc are screwed up.
I'm sure there's plenty of good brothers out there who tried, but she just doesn't see them. Not fair, but it's the reality.
Flip the script, make her a desirable brother, who doesn't rate sisters past a certain shade. People like that exist in both genders, all races and cultures.
Fukk them though.
Why waste your time angry at those who aren't thinking about you?
Go after who you desire, and keep going until you find the one who wants you back.
For my cousin with her issues, that'll be a scruffy white dude.
For those of us with more healthy self images, it'll likely be someone who proved quality beyond a skintone or hair grade.
Just do you.
