Really everything about his face run was terribly mishandled and it reminds me a lot of the failures of Roman's push in that it took everything that made him popular in the first place and stripped him of it and gave him some artificial personality that didn't fit and made him lame as fukk until fans turned on it.

Yeah, they were trying for the whole 'Rocky III' dynamic at Survivor Series with Shawn as Rocky, Jose as Mick, and Sid as Clubber, but they didn't quite get the reaction they were looking for as the crowd shyt on Shawn and cheered for Sid, LOL. That's one of my favorite Shawn matches just for the atmosphere in the Garden that night.

I believe Bret wanted to do something similar to Hogan and Warrior at WM6 where Hogan handed him the belt, they hug, Hogan raises Warriors hand and puts him over type of thing but Shawn was like fukk that, get him the fukk outta here, LOL.

Shawn did him favor after favor and in the end, all Jose cared about was the money. They had a falling out because of it after Shawn hooked up Jose with a job at his wrestling academy in 1999. Not gonna speak ill of the dead so I'll leave it at that, but there's more to this story.
And the whole non-handshake thing was a work cooked up by Bret and Shawn. Bret wrote about that in his book and was corroborated by Shawn in their face to face DVD
