The average person doesn’t know a they can own a home with less than $5000 dollars. FHA loans are real and typically lead to other benefits like down payment assistance and lower internet rates.

If this information was pushed instead of workshops and selective workloads these organizations choose, many more people would own homes.

:ohhh:

@CopiousX is this true? Being able to own a home with less than $5,000 dollars?

What is home ownership tho. You own it name only. It’s an asset that you immediately put up for collateral.

The bank that seize it and even if it’s paid off, you still have to pay taxes every year.

This is why a lot of people see real estate as a way to make money, not live in.

I used to also see dusty looking Hasidics always going into the office of a prominent Miami architect and would wonder how are they getting all this money for these real estate deals, then put 2 + 2 together and came up with many of them have dual citizenship with their other country that gets a healthy stipend of the US $ every year. It's supposed to be spent on defense but I don't think anyone checks the books on where the money goes. Just an observation and I'm not anti-anybody!

Well…the point is they own the properties and rent them out to others so that they can get rich.

Do you want to be one of the renters contributing to someone else’s wealth? Or find a way to own multiple properties as well?

Beyond that, paying a fixed amount every month/not worrying about rent increases, not having to move if the owner decides to sell, building equity that you can potentially leverage, etc

Way more assistance programs available through your lender or other programs if you have financial difficulties as opposed to what is available for renters, etc.

America is about ownership. Period.

So, Black people shouldn't own homes because they MIGHT get seized and will have to pay property taxes?

Is that what you're saying?

Seems to work well for EVERY OTHER ETHNIC GROUP IN AMERICA, but I guess we're different.

The question is why is home ownership looked as such a big barometer in the first place?

And I say this as someone who eventually want to buy a home

How's a bank going to size something if you have the deed and it's paid off? Yeah you got to pay property tax, so what? Everyone who owns land does. Some states even offer exemptions. How do you not own it completely? Cause of taxes and imminent domain?
