One of the first things that crossed my mind when I was looking at the reactions of some people too. Part of why I started viewing the whole incident in racial undertones but I'll leave the rest of my thoughts in those threads.

The "higher" you go, the more likely it probably is that you marry a white person.
The reason is very simple, white people are overrepresented in the top. So for a black woman, if she goes to a party or at work or whatever it might only be one or two black men there and 200 white men. As is the case for black men.
