The real answer to the best alive is Nas. He can combine it all to form the right balance. In year 30 he can still make a song like this.

He beefed with all the greats like Pac, Big, Hov. Survived them all.

What is Lupe's magnum opus storytelling track? :patrice:
He has a plethora of magnum opus level shh!t, lol, being fair

Just listen to him man, smh

Here's a simpler but maybe even more effective display of storytelling...

There are just random...he has more legendary, amazing ones than this...these are pretty fn amazing tho

I've listened to both of those tracks many times. "The Cool" is a dope song but it also captures what I said earlier about his story tracks being more rooted in concept than they are in experience. It's definitely more relatable than some more abstract concept-driven story tracks he's done but nonetheless it doesn't exactly feel all that personal either.

You question KGR? :scust:
My love for G is spread all over this forum, check my history...most influential MC ever for nice nigs, imho

But yeah, you're deflecting. All I said was you don't know what wordplay is champ...which you clearly don't if you're saying G Rap's wordplay >>>> Lupe Fiasco, lol. I think you're mistaking wordplay for multi-syllabic rhyming bro.

Not singling you out here either but earlier you said Lupe can do "anything" these other lyrical rappers can do. Personally I've never heard him in his storytelling bag like this:

And definitely not with the same level of introspection, character development, twists, conviction, etc. I've definitely heard Lupe come with similar type of imagery but never in service of painting a whole narrative where he actually feels like the main character of it and it legit felt like it was coming from him and his life experience.

Bout to listen in a little bit when I eat, always appreciate some newly discovered fire, salute.

I also said earlier that Lupe kinda lacks in the conviction department so yeah...whenever I'm speaking of Lupe's greatness I'm strictly talking about pen-work. His storytelling may not be the most personal or get people in their feels like that, lol, but the shh!t is excellently written and rapped

HIP HOP SAVED MY LIFE

Good choice :ehh: The vignette storytelling works well on the track, the verses feel like they're actually about real people with the type of details that make it feel more sincere and its one of the best R&B hooks he ever had. Some of his best songwriting tbr.

Lowkey though it's very difficult to find a Lupe storytelling track where it comes off like he's writing in his own voice (as opposed to his own stance which is how a lot of his songs in general are written) and it feels equally as sincere as that track.

I do think he is possibly the greatest lyricists we've gotten to hear but I wish he'd embrace the relatability more. Everytning I have up to Lasers is my most played next to Nas' work. Even his mixtapes I ply more than most other albums.

At some point he just leaned in top far into it. Not even saying to dumb it down either.
