Why isn't Kobe's 2004 Finals against the pistons talked about like Bron's dallas series is?

Honestly I can't even blame you. The media never talks about it and 99% of the videos on Youtube have been deleted to protect the Lakers. It's hard to even find footage of it. They only talk about the Finals. Matter of fact someone even found the footage of SAS on Cold Pizza I think giving Kobe a complete pass when Dallas swept him and then going IN on Bron when he lost. Someone on here will find it

Kobestans don't even appreciate how much Stephen A has done to fool the public about Kobe.

Casual fans think Stephen A is knowledgeable and brutally honest so they listen when he slams LeBron, Durant, or whoever else. He NEVER said anything bad about Kobe though.

Kobe straight up wasn't healthy this decade, how is anyone debating that in this thread? He started the 2010 season on fire before injuries caused him to even miss the all-star game. Had to get his knee drained iirc during the playoffs, he played so much better afterwards too, only reason the Thinder series went 6 games.

He was on a minutes restriction and "coasted" for most of 2011 (mostly Phil's decision iirc) in hopes that he would be ready come playoff time. Dude was broke down, that was when I knew the beginning of the end was here. That whole team broke down. People really underestimate the physical toll he went through by then. He normally got better as the season progressed but that ended after his 5th title, body kept breaking down even that year and it only got worse every subsequent year.

Norfeast groovin…
Your shyt doesn't match up.:mjlol:

The Dwight Howard year was the 2012-2013 season. Kobe tore his achilles in April 2013.

Celtics series took a lot out of Kobe, i dont think you guys realized how hard both teams played that series. 2011 Kobe's knee was fukked. He played way less minutes per game than usual. He even said he felt bad he couldn't give it his all for Phil's last year. He got the Germany treatment AFTER that season. That's why he played better in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons.

FOH:hhh:

That Lakers/Celtics series isn’t appreciated enough. That was a true war on the court and just as you said it affected everyone moving forward including Kobe. Plus by that time he’d already logged so many minutes that shyt finally caught up to him.

This thread, nikkas doing more dancing than strippers when make it rain come on, look Kobe had a bad series period, don’t blame Shaq don’t blame mail man being gone this is all on Kobe, it’s one of the few times his over aggressiveness cost them, stop letting the stanery/lebron hate cloud the reality

Bad series for Kobe, but the Pistons were absolutely brutal physically and allowed to hold Kobe.

shyt, that resulted in the last rule for hand checking being eliminated at the start of the next season.

Marc Cuban:
"So a few years ago, Im watching the Pistons beat the Lakers in the Finals. I’m seeing Larry Brown’s Pistons fully take advantage of the rules. It was impossible to stay in front of Kobe. He could get anywhere he wanted on the court. The Pistons knew it as well. So every time he tried to get to the basket, they would body up and bump him. The officials did just as they were supposed to. Since Kobe had the advantage on the defender, they didn’t call a foul. However that little bump slowed Kobe down just enough that it gave Ben Wallace a split second more to on a pre rotation to the Paint, to be in a better position to defend the basket. Kobe still scored, but not quite as often as he may have otherwise.

At that point it dawned on me that the concept of playing the advantage in a one on one matchup had nothing to do with which TEAM gained the advantage. After all, its the team that scores the most points that wins. Detroit had a brilliant strategy and was playing it to perfection. After the finals, I sat down with the league and discussed with them the difference between player and team advantage. The discussion lead to changing the rules so that perimeter contact was called far more often"

"New rules were introduced to curtail hand-checking, clarify blocking fouls and call defensive three seconds to open up the game."

We know what happened after that: Psycho Bean.

It wasn’t just the finals. The whole season was ugly. It’s gotta be among the 3-5 worst offensive seasons since the merger.

Kobe just won the finals and MVP the season before, but he gets swept and all of a sudden he was getting old (oh yeah while playing all 82 games)

Nah you cant have it both ways cut it out :stopitslime:
That’s literally what happened. Kobe played hurt the entire 2010 playoff run, people forget that I gues. He was on a minute restriction the next year because his knee had gotten so bad

Not necessarily, that was the season where the rape allegation took place. Not to mention league averages were down across the board. I'd say it was more that good defense was played. Because after that season, scoring really took off.

But it was definitely one of Kobe's weaker seasons, keep in mind the season before was when Kobe had that 9 game 40+ point streak.
