....
I’ve been on a music binge tonight listening to 90s and 2000s music. One thing that stood out to me is how many love songs there were. It got me thinking about the last love song I’ve heard recently and I can’t think of any. I’m not taking sex but genuine love songs. Groups like Blackstreet, Boys2Men, New edition… why shyt doesn’t exist anymore?
Make this your new thread title:

I got :flabbynsick: so I don’t listen to new R&B anymore.

stl (north side)
1. the cutting of music programs in schools
2. n!ggas don't go to church like they used to so the church isn't producing as many skilled musicians
3. for the longest time, r&b was at the forefront of the culture, but with hip hop now at the forefront, inspiration has dwindled because
hip hop takes less skill and ultimately, boundaries aren't being pushed like they used to

in other words

Literally googled 'black love songs 2023' and got a great rundown of recent vibing songs. Like nice tunes.

I just don't get these kinds of discussions. :mjlol: And I grew up in the 80s and 90s.
You googled them. You don't know them off hand. That's the issue. Filth used to be underground, now filth is mainstream and you have to go underground to find decency.

i'm watching a replay of the soul train awards that just aired a few days ago... 30 min or so in and it's all rnb performances by mainstream artists and even not so mainstream artist (i mean ive known about october for like 7 years now and he's on BET center stage so i would consider him as "well known" but if all you do is complain you probably never heard of him before)

yall bout oldhead af if you crying about not hearing rnb music in these days

we mentioned google for YOUR benefit. some of us that actually like music (rather than love to complain) hear it organically everyday

Where are you hearing it "organically" everyday?

in my playlists and feeds...... cuz you know.... i ACTUALLY listen to the music so it comes to me with how the technology is set up these days. :mjlol:
if you waiting on the radio to spoonfeed you what you want, you bout oldhead af and can only blame yourselves for not keeping up with decades old technology lol
stop replaying those old as CD's over and over again and complaining... get you a streaming service and you'll get what you are looking for and more and likely what is also playing on the radio.

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. You go back and watch R&B music videos from the early 2000s and its jarring to see the difference :picard: We really loved each other and loved the community. Them days are gone breh.
