thats booking breh.

by the end of '99, rock had already surpassed austin as the man of the hour. but he was never given the torch.

he never even got a significant win over austin thru all those years. that wrestlemania 19 win was some bullchit. some ole inferior minded "my goal is to beat austin at wrestlemania" bullchit, which just made the rock look weaker, regardless of the outcome.

i dont blame the rock for getting out of there and doing movies one bit.

wcw fans never really cared about bret hart.

scott hall used to disappear too much.

as a marquee act, i can agree with sting. and yea, i forgot about nash. i admit, i rushed that post. take this dap breh.

but the overall main event scene was stale by '99. it felt like they were just going thru the motions. now im not the type to say that they should have strapped rockets to the back of their midcard, but they shouldve began to slowly elevate some of them. wcw was too segegated. you would rarely even see big stars cross paths with the top midcarders, let alone wrestle them. a guy like say jericho taking a hard-fought loss to say a macho man on nitro or thunder wouldve been a great look.
Yeah, i hear you. It was a lot of politics and crap.

In Jericho's book he talks about a meeting he had with Hogan, Goldberg, & Bischoff about a match with Goldberg. Everybody was on board til Goldberg killed it saying it was his PPV off.

Was never a fan of Austin as a kid. At least not a huge fan. I already had "my guys" and Rock was my guy as a heel as was Shawn. Shawn left and then it became all about Rock so the Austin thing never hit me in the same vein that it hit everyone else I knew. To have so many young black kids imitating a texas redneck is astonishing to me, even to this day. But anyway, the older I've gotten and learned more about this shyt, Austin was huge. Like we're not talking a little bit big, I mean huge. Like many have said, without him, Rock wouldnt have been able to find his character because they would've went out of business. Obviously he wasn't the only one doing great work at the time but he was definitely the driving force and the one selling the most merchandise ever and the one shattering records left and right. He might be a piece of crap for beating on his wife but his contributions to the business are unfukkwitdable. It's like 1a and 1b to me but I've got no problem with anyone making the case that Austin is 1a

:comeon:

thats because wrestlemania 17 was in texas.

Besides, dude was fukking great in 1992 WCW.

THIS.

i rank the rock slightly higher on a wwf list.

but if we're talking overall wrestling careers, then you gotta give it to austin.

if we're talking pre-nitro 1990s wcw, austin can make a case for top 5 of that timeframe. definitely top 10.

They still rehash the Authority angle over and over and over. Austin did that best and it's not even close. He set the standard for that and nobody has even gotten close.

nah.

bishoff & the NWO set the standard and did it better.
