I think Joe Quesada said it best in that the stories for Peter can't be told if he has responsibilities.

Complete nonsense, but that is the direction the character has been in since 2007.

Give me a Spider-Man game #45 before giving me a brawler character without impact like Cap, Black Panther, etc.

It is completely ridiculous. I would love to see Peter in his mid 30s or even 40s completely burned out with his regular ass life, going through crisis and mild depression but still pushing through it because he's Spider-Man and cause of his naturally positive personality. Things like dealing with Aunt Mays mortality, his multiple romantic relationships, his villains growing older or turning over new leafs or still being a pain in the ass after 10+ years of superheroing. He doesn't have to be all fukking grim that would suck, but Jesus Christ how many times are we gonna get this high school to college fukkery :stopitslime:

Nah, spider man just has that jay z aura. People love to Hate him but the goatness can't be denied

Spiderman is more popular than batman and superman. shyt BLACK PANTHER is more popular than batman and superman in this current era. BP and Batman vs Superman came out the same year and BP did a Billy while BvS only did like 700 mil I believe

The real question is who's more popular now spiderman or black panther

And this is why I appreciate the Raimi series, his personal life was always in question and turmoil. They got him out of high school immediately and thrusted him into college where his relationships and school life suffered because he wanted to be a hero. Losing his vision and the trust of those he loves. That was fixed when he tossed the suit.

The two franchises afterwards don't know what independence looks like and dealing with consequences. These recent Peter Parkers don't understand what uncle Ben meant with responsibility. It is more than the power they inherited, but the responsibility to be a man and take on the world. Andrew and the new kid don't have goals and it hinders actual growth of the character, they need to suffer.

You'll see this in the comics with Peter becoming a dad in an alternate reality. Marvel really doesn't want him to grow up. After Civil War they made sure to retcon the character to hell.

Yeah people forget that that's what makes him so popular, he's arguably the most relatable super hero ever, his genius be damned. Specially in two, man's lost his girl, best friend, struggling in school, can't even pay his rent, job ain't what it used to be. Like the daily bugle is also pretty important to his character, his work life keeps him grounded and you can't feel that at all lately.

Spider-Man 3 and One More Day happening around the same time back in 07 broke me. I was a big fan growing up but that double whammy completely soured the character for me. Move him past Aunt May etc. Part of why I loved Ben Reily in the 90s is because despite his life not being perfect and being a fukking clone he was still grateful to be taking pictures and being Spider-Man. High school Peter is the worst, he's at his best when he's juggling work, mj and adult life shyt. Mid to late 20s Peter Parker is the age they should lock him into.

Spider-Man is my favorite hero but I gotta agree with a lot of the sentiments in here that make me less excited about his movie appearances. I'm sick of young Spidey, Tom Holland is cool but I'm not into his supporting cast and they are leaving A LOT of his good source material on the table. By now they should have retold a couple of classic stories or built out his world more. There have been too many resets so the character arcs don't advance. It's been meh overall compared to his great comics.
