Why is PC a dikk sizing contest.

PC gaming is the indoors equivalent to a bald cac CEO having expensive cars/trophy wives.

For the longest time, nobody gave PC gaming a second look. Console gaming had the best exclusives (when Japan was in their bag) and content, hands down. So instead of counting content, this insecure group of rejects started counting frames. Then once the third party developers started putting their shyt on PCs, a group of already smug pricks got even worse. These motherfukkers act like they have the best place to play, but their dikks get hard at even the slightest hint of a console exclusive coming to their platform.

I've gamed on consoles since I was a kid and just recently built a PC during the pandemic (3900x, 2070S, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSDs).

The only thing this machine has been good for are the titty games and playing older titles that ran like shyt on older consoles at higher resolutions/framerates. Emulation is overrated, especially when you can't figure out how to get past certain graphical/sound issues some of the games might have.

I still primarily game on console (PS5), but you're looking at a "best of both worlds" type of situation when it involves gaming PCs. If you were primarily gaming on PC while talking down on the consoles before two of the manufacturers started putting their content on the platform, you were PRAYING their shyt would come out on PC one day.

You can go to RockPaperShotgun right now and find articles where these "professional" PC gaming journalists are still portbegging for Bloodborne to come to PC. shyt's pathetic.

It's not flexing when you can see how deep the insecurity runs with the loud 1 percenters of the PC community.

this aint a pc exclusive phenomenon, n never has been. People flex n stat talk whatever hardware they own/prefer.

and its hard to say nobody gave pc a look for the longest time when franchises like Doom, Starcraft, Quake, Unreal, Diablo, Age of Empires, etc were selling millions of copies on pc for the past 3 decades. Or maybe all pc players bought a 100 copies each to pad those numbers?

Everything you posted with them links deals with modern day consoles with more similarities to PCs than anything. So it's no surprise that this talk is prevalent now. Nobody was talking about stuff like this during the PS2's heyday. They were talking about Devil May Cry, FFX, and Metal Gear Solid 3. Again, nobody was checking for PC back then. PC's popularity existed in a vacuum, if we're being honest. Consoles had worldwide appeal and were covered by the mainstream media. That's not downplaying the success of PC games, but the news was covering PS2s being used for missile guidance systems. Consoles were put in cars on TV and big budget films. Rappers had console names in their lyrics. Do you disagree?

The main problem with the PS2 is that it doesn't really filter textures properly or well. It's a step above the PS1, which didn't filter textures period, but the PS2 generally resorts to nearest-point after the first texture stage (which results in the legendary PS2 graininess of textures), whereas the DC, GC, and XOBX start with bilinear filtering, and the XOBX often is doing trilinear in most games. The PS2, with its infamous 4MB of VRAM, often has to resort to using 4-bit and 8-bit CLUT textures, something that the other consoles do not as they either have shared memory architectures or they have adequate amounts of VRAM.
