Man this is funny cause I had to stay in Fayetteville to cover the release of Rae Carruth and I was like damn this place looks depressing smh. The areas leading up to Fayetteville had me like :picard: Man it looked like we drive into a time warp that stmt is way back into the 1920’s or earlier. Man I was done when I saw a vote for whoever the sheriff is sign in the middle of a cotton field. The best thing about Fayetteville was this restaurant that was jumping on that Sunday morning when we had to head back to Charlotte. I have no idea what it’s called but I do know it was a Buffett and it was packed.

You talking about the Sandpiper I bet. Nikka, the hot sausage Links they had

NC beaches are better. Myrtle Beach is a trailer park compared to Wilmington, Topsail, Ocean Isle, Wrightsville, and the Outer Banks are way better. The water is so nasty at Myrtle and it's way too crowded. Myrtle only has commercial things and that's it.

Now Hilton Head island is a nice spot. People call it the Cary of beaches and I can see why, but I had a great time. All I saw their was old people and families. I was there for 4 days and can count the number of black people I saw on 2 hands. You're gonna spend money there. The beach wasn't overcrowded like at myrtle and there's not much night life.
Depends on what people like .. . I know people who absolutely heart the commercialization of Myrtle despite the disgusting looking water and ridiculous crowds and then I know people who heart the quaintness of non commercial beaches . I’d argue low country beaches are just as quaint and gorgeous as NCs smaller beaches.

And they have WAAAAAY more black history in the Gullah/Geechie coastal areas, which EVERY black person should visit before them white folks ruin it . It’s some spots in the low country where you could literally be the only family there just as it is in some NC spots .

and the geography of the low country with the willows and Spanish moss gives you a completely different feel .

The same way alotta people swear by OBX many others swear by low country , island beaches . I think the geography in the low country is much more varied and intriguing than NC’s quaint beaches . The only thing you don’t get are the wild horses which are cool to see but once you’ve seen them it’s :manny:

Taking the came on a lil week get away driving down to Orlando from dc to go to Disney world for 2-3 days and plan on stopping at a beach for 2-3 days. Taking my wife and kids don’t care for night life, I remember Hilton head being laid back and thought to go there. I am open though. This damn hurricane is completely fking up my plans don’t know what to do.

The Old North State
F’Nam is so depressing . Like as soon as you cross over into city limits , you feel this heavy , desolate feeling of an place barely holding on to a lifeline riding on the remnants of crumbling infrastructure that could completely give out at any minute.

There are a number of Carolina folks on here (South & North) so there are Fayetteville threads on here echoing that sentiment.

Legislators REALLY dropped the ball on everything east of Raleigh aside from Wilmington, which is a primary tourist destination, pretty much sells itself . Kinda like Myrtle in SC but Wilmington is not as universally popular .

and it just so happens ENC is the blackest part of the state that they chose to neglect . :snoop:

It’s really depressing across damn near the entire coastal plain of North Carolina . And its become the poster child of the state’s poverty , despite them poor white folks in the mountains blowing up their houses from the Meth labs :snoop:

I don’t see any anchor city emerging in Eastern NC for quite some time . Our grandkids might be able to see it one day :snoop:
I agree with you about Fayetteville being depressing. My best friend moved to Fayetteville to open a dentistry practice. Moved the whole family out there with him (mom, dad, wife, brother, cousins) from Charlotte. They all love it and some times try to convince me to move out there. He always tells me how they're trying to build it up and more of an influx of young professionals are starting to move there, but hell nah, I could never do it. That drive from Charlotte is different from Raleigh, you've gotta take US 74 to some back roads just to get there, feels like you're going back to a different time.

Yeah, thats big facts. Even for a military base, Bragg got a different feel, the energy still on some 60-70 Vietnam shyt frfr. A person would have to spend some time there to get it

You gotta remember too, that side of State really got bad juju ( i mean everywhere does, but New Bern, Goldsboro, Wilmington, Kinston, Ayden, Elizabeth City shyt like that, them places be differerent, and alot of state instutions in the area used to use the poorer blacks for manual labor up into modern times. (if im not mistaken, the hospital in Goldsboro used to lease out the mentally impaired to work the tobacco fields in Kinston too

got chills reading that … you’re ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. I completely forgot about that and it’s much needed context . Would rep again if I could . It’s definitely a “feeling” in ENC that’s on some metaphysical type vibe that’s very brooding and heavy and eerie .

Caswell Mental Institute used to use the mentally impaired to work the grounds as well. Deep and dark history out here like you said.

You got way more beaches then Myrtle and Hilton Head. The SC slander is uncalled for :mjcry:

They just share the same name they are different states. NC probably has more ties to VA than it does SC
Sc is the beginning of the "deep" south.

Tbh eastern nc is pretty similar to sc.
Lack of resources
Very black but conservative cacs still wield power.
Similar humid sub tropical climate, though you're more like to see spanish moss and palm trees in sc.
Sc has better beaches and better cuisine imo.
