Breh, I'm from Fayetteville and moved to Flo-town :francis:...you aint never lied about the stark difference between the two :wow:, I used to hate visiting grandma down in SC :hhh:

A lot of it has to do with how both states are run AND, each has the opposite development on either side of the state. NC is traditionally more democratic than SC could ever hope to be. The east side of NC up to Charlotte has heavy economic development whereas SC don't have much until you get past Columbia and up into Greenville.

You gotta go further south to Charleston on the east side to find anything decent...unless you just passing through to get to Myrtle Beach :yeshrug:

What's 'development' in NC east of Raleigh? Looks alot like SC to me, aside from all the farm land. The western half of that state looks like a whole other state compared to the eastern half.

Both states have regions that look worlds apart. The 85 corridor(sp?) of SC looks like another state compared to the rest of it.

NC got more varied geography, a larger plethora of cities/metropolitan areas, a higher number of HBCUs, a better and ever-evolving economy and job market, cooler looking beaches, the childhood state of The GOAT , a relatively more politically “moderate” climate compared to SC, is home to Durham and Greenville and both of whom have a Black Wall Street legacy, and it usually doesn’t get as hammered by hurricanes as SC.

I also noticed that despite SC being a Blacker state percentage-wise, I always get the feeling that NC got a lot more “safe spaces/zones” for Black folks than SC.

And I gotta agree with the ppl in here talking that vibe they get in SC once they pass South of the Border on 95…It’s the type of peculiar vibe that I’m very certain my Ancestors must’ve felt during the Jim Crow days traveling within the Carolinas. Only thing good about SC I can even think of is the affordable housing market, it being the heart of the Gullah-Geechee cultural highway, Charleston and the Low Country, the food, Myrtle Beach, the beautiful red clay dirt and the primeval looking vegetation, and it being the state that gave us Dr. Varius P. Blynd and Bobby Hemmitt.

South Carolina never got a song. It must suck

I can’t even think of a single rapper (aside Jeezy who’s been an ATLien damn near forever) that blew up from South Carolina. The rap scenes in much of that state are local as all hell, even Columbia.
