It dropped 50% when MJ retired. They never cared for it
MJ's the biggest star in the history of sports (other than Ali), of course it was going to go down when he retired, :heh:

That doesn't mean anything.

Why don't you ever see Jokic or Wemby or foreign players constantly whining like this about the media???

All our players do is make $60 million a year and bytch & moan about criticism.

All Giannis do is ball, go home to his wife, & not give a fukk.

You make excuses for everything.

NBA fans are conditioned to dikk ride players over teams and have always been temperamental

Y’all are both kinda right. Why would the nba deviate away from what saved the league from being NHL status? Bird magic and MJ prevented that.

Bird and Magic aligned to the oldest rivalry in league history. Many of you overestimate how much it was Bird & Magic and not focus on the team rivalry that was Lakers vs Celtics that played an equal role.

Lastly…as I said in my year 2000 article, players retire. You over invest in players, your fans will retire WITH them and you’re left trying to reinvent yourself through the next star and it will come off inorganic.

A quarter century later, we are EXACTLY where I said we would be

Bird and magic did more for the non fans of those teams than the rivalry did. Numbers support that. It wasn’t equal. NBA is betting on odds at this point, a few mega stars always emerge just like they did with Kobe Bron and Steph, it just might take a little longer. NBA is in its 70s era right now, it’s gonna take a little while longer

If Bird and Magic didnt fall into the Lakers/Celtics rivalry, their stars are nowhere near as bright

Neither of those guys get the media coverage like Bron does.

How often do we see Bron get major coverage on First Take when his team doesn’t even play or aren’t even in playoff contention.

Bird & Magic at one point were a part of the highest rated basketball game in American history

It was the 1979 NCAA Championship game between Michigan State & Indiana State

To this day, the highest rated basketball game in American history :obama:

No Lakers, no Celtics involved.

Magic & Bird were always box office. :yeshrug:

Because Bron CHASED it.

He signed the $90 million dollar Nike deal out of high-school because MJ wore Nikes.

He got "Chosen One" tatted on him.

He's the one who has his Klutch affiliates (Shannon Sharpe, Windhorst, & Big Perk, Nick Wright) constantly forcing him on the public as the GOAT.

He's the one who chose the "Superteam" route.

Just ball, nikka.

Giannis & Jokic & Luka just show up & ball.

American nikkaz wanna "stunt" on everybody & say "Look at me" & then get mad when they get criticized

Imagine Brady telling Lamar he doesn't deserve the MVP on a broadcast

Tony Romo did exactly that.

Dan Orlvsky and Emmanuel Acho did the same on their shows.

I said this on another thread. The NBA media talk/narrative BS has crept to the NFL. But only impacts black QBs (Notably Lamar/Hurts/Dak).

They did not tell Lamar he didnt deserve the MVP to him while interviewed. So its not the same

Its fine to say a player doesnt deserve the MVP. Who says they had to? But what Shaq did to Jokic on that broadcast was trash

I'm not sure what you're saying. I quoted someone talking about a broadcast. I don't wtf you talking about an interview. When dude I quoted never mentioned anything about an interview.

On the same broadcast during the Patriots vs Bills game.
There was a graphic highlighting the posiitive/negative stats from 4 offensive players (2 on Pats, 2 on Bills). Somehow, someway ignored Josh Allen's INT.

Dan Orlvsky got on ESPN called that interception a punt.

I know wtf I heard.

Hot takes, misinformation, campaigning for friends instead of actual analysis.

You're being weired.
I don't know what they meant to say.

I responded to exactly what the person said.
