This is part of the problem. Too much hyperbole. Can we get a compilation of analyst talking about “never seen nothing like this” :krs:

I recently saw a post saying the Cavs/Warriors Christmas Day game from 2017 or 2016 was the GOAT regular season game lol

My point is there is too much comparison in the NBA media because they want to talk about everything but the actual game.
Please be real. There is not an overabundance of overhyping NBA regular season play regularly on the airwaves. :childplease:

NBA players crying about ex-players & critics is like when actors complain that critics didnt like their movies.

No dog. Name a league Flagship show which tells its viewers NOT to watch the playoffs?

That the product is bad.

Why do you continuously talk around that?

Because it's all about Ringgzzzzzzz Culture and the MJ vs LeBron GOAT debate

The Skip Bayless effect

Nobody disputes that Randy Moss or TO are all-time greats just because they never won a SB. That argument would be laughed out of the building

It's invaded the NFL convo for QBs but that's just one aspect of NFL coverage.

Rings and how people perform in the playoffs is the entirety of NBA coverage

People crowned Ant as the next MJ after the Denver series and by the time the Mavs series was over he was a bum that doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as MJ

It's fukking exhausting

I wrote about that dumb shyt in 2003

Take for instance David Stern, who as the NBA commissioner injected us with 100% pure MJ after Michael Jordan’s arrival onto the NBA’s world stage. As the dusk set on the cast of characters who carried the Celtics vs. Lakers rivalry, Stern left behind “team first” advertising which carried the league out of obscurity in the 1970’s. In trying to keep pace with the Nike’s successful marketing campaign promoting Michael Jordan, Stern transformed the NBA into the “All MJ-All the Time” league for over a decade, as Jordan played the starring role slaying foe after foe.
Frank Lucas would envy how hooked David left us.
But the after affects of Jordan’s second retirement left us to suffer from withdrawal symptoms, as our interest in the league faded with the disappearance the star who was the only athlete cast in the spotlight. And with his departure, so left the short lived rivalries built on individual match ups, leaving behind a talent pool full of players raised on the “Highlight” and a mentality fashioned to think of themselves first before the team.
Faced with a dwindling fan base, Stern’s promise of (insert name of random highflying athlete) ______________ “ becoming the “next MJ” routinely fell short of delivering the same potency and proved to be watered down version of the real thing. To correct the problem of his players, a flood of European imports, bringing with them fundamentals thought to be missing with players born stateside and the implementation of a dress code would result in bringing back the fans which have yielded few results. “

Now, THIS actually was a GREAT game.

One of the best I've seen in a long-time.

I was looking forward to this & they didn't disappoint.

No dog. Name a league Flagship show which tells its viewers NOT to watch the playoffs?

That the product is bad.

Why do you continuously talk around that?
Because as I've said over & over again, the public wants to be entertained.

If they are, they couldn't care less about anything anybody says.

The average person is not scouring podcasts or watching random NBA or NFL shows.

You dudes seriously give talking head nikkaz TOO MUCH credit.

If anything, the ratings would be lower without Inside the NBA because a lot of people tune into games just to see the banter between Shaq, Chuck, & Kenny, and Ernie.

The public tells you OVER & OVER what they dont like about the game & NBA nut-gobblers keep ignoring that.

Too many 3's
Too many diva stars
Too many stars load managing
Too many foreigners & not enough American stars.
Referees that interject themselves into every second of the game calling ticky tack fouls
Guys not playing hard enough
Too many guys want to go & try to make super teams & don't want to be competitive anymore.

Again, it's not hard, G.

If you like this era, it's on you, but you'll be hard pressed to find anybody who says, "I didn't watch this game because some random ex-NBA player or Stephen A. or somebody told me not to". :comeon:

Thats bullshyt. Former HOFamers are not just “anybody” and tearing down your league as an entity week after week only adds to the negative culture that has been developed by a league that already had shytty marketing being playercentric as it is.

You have yet to name another flagship show which bashes the product they represent.

People wanting to be entertained is not unique to any sport, and the NFL & MLB product has NOT been any better than the NBA. Point is, NFL flagship shows arent concerned about what a player had to say in response to Asante Samuel’s comments on a podcast. Meanwhile, the lead to an NBA show is Jayson Tatum’s response to Brandon Jennings comments on a podcast. :scust:

The entire way the NBA is covered is toxic and shytty as fukk and you having the nerve to spend time in here and attempt to say NFL media covers the game in the same way was plain garbage.

There is no talking around Charles Barkley’s c00n ass telling his viewers to NOT watch the playoffs. There is no talking around Charles Barkley being on some fake ass populism constantly bringing up players salaries to that of steel workers. He is a primary contributor to the toxic nature of how the game is perceived.

No one can tell me that NFL product is any better than the NBA because it outright isnt.

Bro I was watching the Knicks and Thunder game and I was thoroughly entertained even though it was a blowout. Maybe I am in the minority but I am enjoying this new crop of younger players.

NBA players crying about ex-players & critics is like when actors complain that critics didnt like their movies.

A lot of the highest earning movies in history were shytted on by critics. Just think of any Michael Bay movie that made a fukkton of money.

If the public is entertained, they don't give a damn about what anybody says :russ:

Blaming the media for your bad product is as p*ssy as p*ssy gets.

It's what the WNBA used to do before CC put them on her back.
Not really, more like the the critics specializing in fantasy movies saying that the whole genre of fantasy is wack.
Or the the person covering the Oscars saying every movie this year is trash, let's talk about how trash every movie is.

Professional basketball players play to win, they are not the Harlem Globetrotters. If that's how winning teams look and you don't like it, you don't like the product, go and watch the Harlem Globetrotters, street basketball, wnba or something else. Has nothing to do with "bad or good" product, more like what type of product it is. It's just like the people criticizing Mayweather for being a defensive boxer. If you wanna see knock out artists, go and watch someone else.

I can admit that I enjoy the diversity in basketball, not the statistic 3 point shooting contests. But if I'm covering the sport, I can't shyt on people for doing what they can to win.

If anything they can go and lobby at the commissioners office, cause just saying it's bad bad bad on TV, is doing nothing but creating a boring vibe. It's like if a everyone learns how to kick 70-80 yard field goals, should we shyt on them for doing it? Will they stop doing it cause some old heads that could only kick from 40 thinks it's boring? No they need to go and change the rules.

Maybe nba needs to do away with one and done or go down to 20 teams. There just too many teams not worth watching cause they suck.

This season has been fun with the knicks and Cavs and Celtics being good in the east. Out west we got the grizz thunder and wolves but overall most regular season games just aren't that interesting.

I will say these last few weeks they have been sitting better games nationally.
