People use the other options of joining the army, apart from that there is marriage to an American citizen, green card lottery and being in a highly skilled job. The lottery also has caps on citizens from populous countries like India,China, Nigeria etc. As a Canadian citizen it is easier to enter the country , other citizens of countries in Asia and Africa have an even harder time just entering the country. Once people enter the country they usually find ways to turn that into citizenship. On a student visa you have work restrictions (only on campus employment) and once you graduate you can apply for 1 year special type of visa called an OPT if you are a STEM major you get the 1 year plus a 17 month extension provided you still are employed. It is easier being a Mexican illegal and apply for amnesty than the normal routes which take years. I think it is easier for politicians to ignore immigrants who come to wash dishes and do low skilled labor than those that compete with the middle class.

Are you a PR or citizen?

Do you have a social insurance number etc.?

Just to what the rest of the diaspora does and go to the United States because you feel like it. Freedom paperwork is for suckas. I'm in Canada, ain't I?

Its easier to enter but not stay and work.

As a CDN I can stay in the USA for 6 months, but I can't work legally. I mean from a war torn country I can claim amnesty or refugee status as a law abiding educated citizen from a first world country I have better odds winning the gawt damn lottery it seems.

Opt you need someone to sponsor you if I'm not mistaken.

OPT does not require sponsorship or even a job offer, it is given to foreign students who have graduated from US schools some limited time to use their degree and it is not renewable once that year is up. The H1B visa is the one where you need a job offer and a company to sponsor you, it is used for 3 years and renewable once. It is the visa that tech companies use a lot and are always lobbying congress about, it is also capped at 65 000 I think but sometimes they increase it. It is however dominated by tech companies bringing cheaper IT workers from India.

I realized when i was writing that there is some special dispensation for NAFTA citizens especially Canadians. Look up the TN visa , it is apparently available for Canadian citizens who qualify based on certain degrees and it is separate from the H1-B which is used by everyone else from Africa and Asia. I think you only need to get a job offer first and then enter the country ,show them the offer and apply for the visa.

Pretty easy to get an f1 visa if you're Canadian, you just need an acceptance letter from an American university

Its just as hard leaving here.

I wanted to go to Cuba.
NOPE.

Iran.
NOPE.

Only places I can go freely are mini-americas like Canada or UK. :scust:
American passport is top 3-5 in terms of lack of travel restrictions

I'm sure there are lots of places it'll get me into (I do actually have a passport).
Its just that the places I wanted to go wasn't having it back when I looked into it.

Thats true. I never considered detouing. I was younger though when I checked.

Its just, countries like Mexico and Canada I didn't even have to show them the passport. They just waved me in. :dead:
All the countries that it lets you go to, you might as well stay in America.

Anywhere that isn't on some zionist tip you can't even go.
Or at least that was my experience.

I've never had my passport checked to go to/from Mexico or Canada. Been numerous times to each.
Maybe if I was flying it would be different. But driving they just wave you through or slow you down to ask questions.

Already posted about being denied Cuba and Iran.
I'm sure I could go to France or Britain or somewhere no prob though.

You can go almost anywhere, not including war torn areas, except for like 3 countries, one being North Korea

Even if you need a visa it's basically an application and a fee, and sometimes you just pay when you arrive

You have no idea the freedom an American passport grants in terms of travel, even just on layovers

Even with that visa for school once you graduate you have 60 days to go back to your country, unless a job is willing to sponsor you.

Just was looking at like Portland

Nah, It's one year and up to two if you did a stem majoe
