Why is it acceptable for NBA fans to root for different teams every few years?

NBA is more about rooting for certain superstars than teams

It's funny I'm from the UK and I've always looked at it like this because I don't have ties to any American city (bar a few cousins in Maine) so I would always just route for the teams my favourite players were on. Interesting this is also the case in states.

Shyt is the exact opposite for soccer, switching sides is the worst thing you could possibly do as a fan/supporter.

better than these fantasy fakkits who root against own team to win weekly match ups

Preach my nikka!!! Fantasy is some bullshyt that will have you aligning with players rather than supporting an organization. It's all a ploy by the leagues to sell more apparel and get more ratings across the board, rather than just watching the local squad or whoever you root for.

I wouldn't say I tot four different teams every year but I just like watching entertaining teams. I'm a Heat fan for life already and will root for them over anybody, and it's always fukk the Knicks no matter how either team is doing. But I do tend to enjoy cheering for other teams if I like their team and players. Like the warriors, I like watching Curry play. Liked watching him when he was at Davidson. So I root for the warriors whenever I see them play. Same with the thunder, always liked durant from his Texas days and like russ play too. Thought they had a good team when we beat them a few years back when they still had harden. So that's a team I like to watch. Everyone has teams they like to see because of the excitement of the game. Basketball doesn't have much parity. You usually see the same teams doing good for a few years, then bad, then good again. That's cuz superstars come and go, and that's how the league markets them. Look at all the LeBron fans that left the heat when he left. Many fans follow the players. Imagine if Jordan would've left the bulls during his prime days.

Knicks and Spurs.

Knicks because I'm a New Yorker.
Spurs because I been a fan since the David Robinson, Vinny Del Negro, Sean Elliott days.

I can get rooting for a team once yours is eliminated. But not taking on a new team just because they're hot.

While that may be true, as a fantasy player, I can tell you that it hasn't affected me as a fan. That's because the two things aren't connected. Like let's say I have LeBron on my fantasy team vs the heat that day. Sure I'm gonna root for him to fill the stat sheet. But I'm gonna root for the heat to score more points. Same with baseball, football, hockey, whatever. Fantasy gets more fans interested. Especially football. It's a million dollar business and the league's know better than to not capitalize on it. And when you play fantasy, you have a whole team of players to rely on. So if you want one guy to do bad against your team, the rest of your fantasy team can help you out that week or game instead.

Because it's much harder for NBA teams to rebuild than NFL teams and the parity is out of whack

In football a Giants fan and a Eagles fans can banter with each other every year

Could you imagine how boring it would be for 2 people who root for the Knicks and the Sixers to try and talk trash to each other?
Man, speak for the NFC. I'm a diehard Dolphins and Heat fan. With the NBA I always feel Pat Riley and Coach Spo always keeps us in the loop/playoffs. With the Dolphins/NFL, I fully expect for the Pats to win the division while Miami has another mediocre 8-8 season. NFL parity seems great, but it just doesn't apply to Dolphins fans and the AFC in particular. All the parity is in the NFC.

Haven't been a Wizards fan since they traded C-Webb for Mitch Richmond. Could never forgive them for that.

The Bulls aren't looking too hot & haven't been looking that good beyond the regular season in the last few years. So I go with whoever is doing good. Does that make me a bandwagon person? Prolly so, but the Bulls aren't doing much. And we lost Benny the Bull :mjcry:
Smh:francis: i thought we could be bulls fans/friends
